Since there has been a lot of champion updates in the recent years, are there any plans to give just voice-over updates to champions who aren't receiving full scale VGU's? You have updated numerous kits, visual effects, even splash arts for a lot of champions, but their voices don't seem to be on that list for updates unless its on a VGU.
RiotRiotJaredan8 votesYes, depending on the opportunity. As Crewx explains, it is something that can be a challenge, but we do want to make adjustments when we can. This is something we're planning to do though I can't promise how extensive and predictable it will be from a timeframe perspective.
But yeah, we want to do it, and we're finding ways to make it happen when we can.

If yes then, my bad. But newer champs don't seem to have quotes like "you only need to click once fool" or any reference saying "summoner".

We haven't got to revealing them yet, so it's completely understandable that there is confusion (our bad). I just like to let players know Summoners aren't entirely gone when I get chance.

This game just doesn't feel to me as if it makes me lead a character (Heroes Of The Storm is the game that does it, and well). League Of Legends makes me feel as if it makes me BE a character! No more summoners please!

Would the team ever potentially take time to go back and update these champions to bring them up to par with today's standards of a full VGU?

DCYOUNG8881 votesIn addition to possibly updating Fiora's VO, would it be possible to update her champion spotlight too? She had a full VGU (minus VO) and her current champion spotlight is outdated and she needs to have one of her rework.
Variks the Loyal6 votesI asked this question once. To my knowledge, the only champion to get a full VO update is Cassiopeia.
A red responded to me, and explained to me what happens when they need to make a new VO. In the case of a VO update, they need to get in contact with the character's actor and work around their busy schedules. They pull the actor in, record lines, and then go to editing. Their sound designers do their work editing the dialogue, and in some champion's cases, they add effects; reverbs, echoes, that sort of thing. Then they implement them into the game, including movement quotes, attack quotes, item quotes, taunts, jokes, grunts, yelps, shouts, deathrattles, and other such things. The lines go through testing before being greenlighted.
Then, they do it again, and again, and again, and again, for every language that League is played in across the world.
In some cases, this might literally be impossible; certain actors might not be available anymore. For example, the VO for Twitch's VU is the same guy as his original, but when they did Omega Squad Teemo, they had to find a new actor because Teemo's original actor was no longer available (Something about being in a union). In this case, they have a conundrum - do they replace all of the champion's old lines with a new actor, or keep the VO that players have become attached to?
All of this is an very expensive endeavor. It's costly not only in terms of money, but in terms of time. It would delay VOs being produced in new champions or Legendary skins. The only case I know of where Riot did something like this is the original Shurima event, which brought new lines for Xerath, Sivir, and Renekton, and an entire new VO for Cassiopeia.

Snook8881 votesThat is a great idea. There are many champions that need new VO without instant need of VGU (for the moment at least). Most of the champions that in my opinion fall into that category are season 1-2 ones that haven't got a fully remake yet, a few examples are: Udyr (Not spirit guard obviously), Swain, Singed, Alistar, Shaco...etc I think you get the idea, those champions do have a few catchy lines but that's all. Seeing the lore updates and the new world Riot is creating (which is amazing) it is a pity to see classic oldschool characters not getting any "in-game" love. I'm sure Rioters know better what they are planning for each one them, so I guess my opinion counts simple as a suggestion of who "seems" to be in need of new lines.
