League of Legends RPG: A Communal Effort

Hey everyone,

I don't need to explain to you all how awesome LoL is, so I'll start out by just saying that my background is currently studying to major in Computer Science and Game Design with a minor in General Business. I've been thinking about a project that could be fun for a large audience (and obviously free, I wouldn't seek to make any money off of this game), and a LoL RPG came to mind. I looked through some older posts and saw one, but it looks like it's pretty dead at this point.

I've made some progress in developing a story for this idea, and as far as mechanics go, it would stylistically be similar to Final Fantasy. However, this journey would be not only simpler, but far more enjoyable if I could spend it with fellow members of the community. That's why I'm reaching out; if anyone has any ideas for story lines or general plots or cool things to add to the game, I'd be more than happy to hear all of it. Additionally, if anyone wanted to voluntarily make concept art for the game (you will obviously be credited when it's finished), let me know that as well and I can get in touch with you personally.

In addition to help from the community as a whole, if you would be interested in joining my development team (which at the time of posting consists of me, myself, and I), send me a private message and we can see if we'd work well together.

To me, this game is about bringing the incredible LoL community together to help make something for all of us to enjoy. So join me on this adventure as we work to create a product true to the game, its lore, and us as a community.

I like writing and stories. If you need help on that front, hit me up on Steam (xion136) and I can brainstorm with you.

I am not on Skype currently due to RLstuff.

Gah, stop making me moist. Which FF(s) are we talking about? Not that I currently have the skills to help, but a FF-esque LoL game sounds friggin' awesome.

Well, my main account is in the BR server, but this aside you have your OST Composer here :D

I have some expertise in screenwritng too, and studying how to Storyboard right now. I've lived together in a republic with a Game Design undergrad and know a little about much thing. I already made OSTs to some short-feature movies and for one game that was scrapped. Also, I already conducted some string orchestras and choirs with some of my classical production.

But I wish to take a look at your project. My favourite FF is PS1 Tactics, and IV in second place. But above all these and even League is Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG: Legend of Seven Stars coming up second. Legends of Mana, Dragoon and Legaia are good references too, as Brigandine: Legend of Forsena.

Imagine man, a summoner evolving inside the schemes of the Institute of War from level 1 to 30 controlling a party of 5 champs and facing Faker as the final boss! .

Hey, Get Frogged. I think if you want to make a game that is at all revolutionary, you should break away from the whole "storyboard" thing. I'm sorry but, its time to make a game that is customizable and random according to the players, and what the players have done. Not what youve "decided would be a cool story." All its going to be is just another RPG, just with a different namet. You aren't going to make anything cooler than Fable. Or obvlivion, or final fantasy. You want to know why league is so cool? Because it has no storyline, and every game is different. You want to know why Minecraft was so revolutionary? Because it is COMLETELY RANDOM, EVERY TIME. I have a fantastic idea. And I really want to help you out. Or shoot it your way. For a revolutionary game. Long story short. The quests in the game should be given to each indivual character based on what he is, what he has done, and where he is at. Skillshots? Why not just make the character have the freedom to learn "ice" and over time literally choose. Exactly how the skillshot he casts it in will look like? You make an icemage in the woods to train him do this? No. Why not make the woods non existent, until the character approaches it. Forces it to spawn, then forces the mage to spawn. And instead of killing the mage for exp like any other jungle mob. He befriends it, and learns ice magic from him? Then a character with a fire sword walks up. Slaughters the mage. Forever to be gone. And now the ice player, and the fire player, will fight? Instead of having people "choose which character to play. Or choose one of three types of images to be" why not just let them make whatever they want? In a MOBA birds eye view with skillshots? But instead of a MOBA, its an mmoRPG with the same gameview/setting/playstyle? Like. An. MMORPBA? A massively Multiplayer Online Roll Playing Battle arena? With randomization, and full custumization? Wouldn't that be revolutionary?
