Viktor was never a good guy. People need to get over it.

Dear Summoners,

Look, I know people like Viktor. He is an interesting villain. But that IS what he is: a villain. Sure, they expanded on his more... vile aspects in the new lore, but he was NEVER supposed to be a sympathetic figure. He stole Jayce's life work, obliterated his lab, and tried to use that technology to conqueror the world. The ONLY reason Viktor didn't end all of mankind is because Jayce killed the crystal in time. Afterall, the only difference between the normal and battlecast universes is that in the battlecast universe Jayce failed.

So please, you can like Viktor like people like Magnetto or Darth Vader. They are fun villains, but they don't really have any redeeming qualities.

Too bad Magneto's got some pretty convincing reasons for the way he acts. He's far from your average mustache-twirling villain.

He's right, but not really for the right reasons.

Viktor for better or worse is a villain. His backstory is already your average super villain story, just lacking the revenge part. Yes he's supposed to be sympathetic, he's supposed to be morally grey, but his actions are what pushes him towards being a villain.

He's a bad guy, but that doesn't mean he's a bad guy. That's what people want and are worried Riot won't deliver on.

He can be compared to Hitler. Pure genius, just led across the wrong path due to unfortunate causes here and there.
