Regarding Miss Fortune
TL;DR? This post touches on two things: MF's voiceover and new attack animations.
Hello. I wasn't actually sure where to put a thread like this, but what I'd like to bring up touches on both her art and story (mainly the latter), so this seemed the best place. If there's already been a thread like this, I apologize; I looked for one but could not find it.
Riot tried their damnedest with the Burning Tides event, and for that I applaud them. The breadth of this event was the largest done yet, and I hope to see more like it in the future. The Burning Tides story did a lot for the characters involved, and in my opinion it especially painted a good picture of Miss Fortune--consumed by revenge, hollowed out, following the unfortunate cycle of turning into what you most despise. One could argue that there are too many champions motivated by vengeance already (I wonder how many Kalista has tried speaking to...), but a good enough job was done handling this particular instance that I don't mind.
There's just...a couple things I'm disappointed in, among her visual and story updates. They've been bugging me for a bit now, and I figured I'd finally share.
**1. Why didn't Riot choose to update her voiceover? **
If the answer is something as simple as "we couldn't get a hold of the original VA," that's fine. However, such a HUGE amount of effort was spent making this event perfect, I really do wonder why MF didn't receive any vocal love. A champion's lines are supposed to communicate their character. MF is, unfortunately, from a time where Riot had not quite grasped/manifested that yet. Nothing she says tells me ANYTHING about her character. Her lines are extremely generic: "Guns blazin'." "Bang!" "Step to!" "Set sail!" Even her slightly more personalized quotes don't tell me much except the name of her guns. She's a generic sexy pirate, and with the recent story and everything else, that just...doesn't fit anymore. I don't hear a bounty hunter consumed by rage who puts on masks for people. I just hear a sexy flirty lady pretending to be a pirate on Halloween. Considering how much went into GP's rework, death, re-reveal, etc, would it have been so difficult to come up with new lines for Sarah? Riot really dropped the ball on this, and it's extremely disappointing. You could argue that, hey, maybe her current VO is one of her masks--but this simply does not fit. Champ lines give us a look into the minds of the characters, and since the Institute of War/Summoners are now defunct, there's no reason anything would be hidden from players.
2. What's up with her attack animations now?
Riot gave her more lively animations. I get it. She definitely looks more interesting when she's shooting now! And in the context of putting on an exaggerated show, the animations work. But I cannot think of any practical situation in which someone would shoot a gun and throw their hips around like that. It looks awkward. It shifts her weight around in such a way that she would have little to no accuracy. Its sole purpose is to titillate--the same, I suppose, as her costume is supposed to do. Like I said, if it's in the context of putting on a show, it works. MF does not seem the type who'd keep her masks on when a fight broke out, though. In taverns, on ships, in small gatherings, in large gatherings, sure! But unless it's a theater duel, why would she be moving like that? Part of me knows the answer--because it's sexy for a certain majority of players to watch. Knowing doesn't make the pill easier to swallow, though.

Those are the issues that I've been stewing over, and if you made it this far, thanks for reading. I'll probably get some flack for my opinions, but that's alright. I just hope there are some of you out there who agree with me. Maybe if enough of us speak, Riot will at least consider updating MF's voiceover! I'd be thrilled with that.
Cheers!
