Hello,

I have got really interesting question about present lore of League of Legends.

In the past, in the classic lore, had every champion history about his life, and about his accesion to league. What now? Annie is child of wood, and Zoe is exploring new world. How is they can fighting on Field of Justice? Is now the history and the game split?

(I know that my english si absolutely bad, and i am sorry ;)

Retcon. Basically Institue of war and fields of justice dont exist anymore. It was very unrealistic to have every champion show up to the same place and do the same thing, aswell as very limiting for storytelling.

Now you just have champion bio’s and stories that explain who they are, where they came from and their place in the world. Not every champion knows eachother and they all have their own thing going on.

Yeah, but i think it is sad. Because "old" lore was really logic. Champions - people with amazing power. Summoners - people who use their power for figth. League of Legends - institution for solve conlifcts.

Now is game "non-canon".

From a story-telling point, the old lore had their problems. You talk about conflicts - but the summoners were so powerful, that they would resolve every conflict before it happens, which is not good story telling. Not consider if we still had the Institute of War we could not have champions like Bard, Aurelion Sol or Kindred, since their power level is even higher. Every champion was forced to has a connection to the Institute of War, nowadays the champion are allowed to exist to tell their personal story. May it be that they are the key figure for the political circumstances of their region or just a person who still search for their place in the world.

I do miss the old lore sometimes. I do miss some old characters, since not every update was a success (I look at your Mt Targon). But if you compare for example the old and new Demacia, their story teling improved so much.

I always thougth that power of Bard or Kindred was suppressed, or adapted for summoner. But with story-telling it is true.

I just was happy that League of legends have amazing connection between game and history - field of justice is not just non-canon game, but really place with lore.

Yes, but "old" lore had amazing connection between game and history.

League of Legends was way as solve conflicts. Between Noxus and Iona for example. Now it is lost.

They had something like that once. And honestly,it'd be boring if they resolved all conflicts like that.
