In the simplest form? I can try.

Runeterra is a world filled with magic and life. The primary continent which the lore encompasses is Valoran, where you will find a wide variety of nations each with their own ways of doing things. Magic originates from another plane of existence from which beings such as Bard and Soraka originate from, and the mortals of Runeterra grasp hold of said magic as best they can, sometimes to great and calamatous effect.

Freljord is the frozen north of Valoran and is notable for being a barren tundra that is cruel and unforgiving to all. It is inhabited by Trolls, Ursine, Yetis and humans, each of which have their own ways of etching out a living here. Ages ago a race of mysterious beings arrived in Freljord. Calling themselves the "Frozen Watchers" they elevated humans in to a state of immortality, giving them incredible powers while doing so. In return the Watchers had their new found subjects whom they named the Iceborn build an empire for them, and to that effect the armies of Freljord conquered, forging that mighty empire, however this did not last forever, as an Iceborn woman named Avarosa cried out for freedom.

She led a rebellion and civil war led to the Frozen Watchers being defeated. The Iceborn took to ruling the land until a new war; the war of the three sisters, divided them, with Avarosa and her sisters Serylda and Lissandra fighting for control. In the end all sided crumbled but Lissandra plotted in the background the return of the Watchers, and has been making plans with her faithful subjects the Frostguard. In the modern day the Freljord is divided once again as Ashe seeks to unite all of Freljord under a single banner in the name of peace, with Tryndamere ruling the Barbarians at her side and the very spirit of Freljord, Anivia as her friend. Ashe's "Avarosan" are at war with the Winter's Claw, created by Sejuani to unite Freljord in the name of conquest and honour in battle. Volibear , chieftain of the Ursine has aligned with her, while Lissandra, in the background has decived all of Freljord, allying with Ashe under the guise of the "Ice Dervish". Leading a double life her Frostguard seek to destroy both sides and pave the way for the Watcher's return, with Trundle having united the Trolls as part of a bitter deal to serve her.

Demacia is a nation where Justice and righteousness are exemplified and its citizens are held to the highest standard. For centuries they have warred against Noxus, their perennial enemy, and have grown to be a mighty kingdom over time. Currently they are led by King Jarvan Lightshield III, father of JarvanIV.

Noxus is a nation where strength is the most important thing. An empire of conquerers they have battled Demacia for ages, with one of their greatest heros: Sion, having killed Jarvan I centuries ago. About 20 years ago they began a full scale invasion of an island nation called Ionia, and currently occupy much of its southern half. In the last few years a new Grand General has risen to power, named Jericho Swain. Swain's agenda isn't clear right now, but war is definetly on the horizon.

Both Demacia and Noxus share a border with the enormous Shurima Desert, a vast barren land that was once home to the mighty Shuriman Empire. The Shurimans revered the sun and in their capital an enormous artifact known as the Sun Disc hovered in the sky. The legendary object could bestow the gift of ascension on to humans, granting them an animalistic appearance and god like powers. the Ancient brothers Nasus and Renekton are examples of this. About 1,000 years ago the Emperor known as Azir sought Ascension by the advise of Xerath, but Xerath stole the power, destroying Azir, Shurima's capital and all of its inhabitants in the process. He was imprisoned for his sins but the empire crumbled, now existing as a shadow of its former self, but with Xerath's recent release and Azir's ressurection, a new era has dawned for Shurima.

The southern most deserts are infested with outer beasts, creatures from another place. Some call it the Outside but we know it better as the Void, a place where horrifying monsters of alien power inhabit. Some have managed to find their way in to Runeterra, and they bring chaos with them. While the true nature of the Void is unclear, one thing is for certain; all of its inhabitants seek to consume in some form or another.

The Kumungu is a vast jungle filled with life both vibrant and terrifying. It is mostly unexplored and for good reason, being so remote and so dangerous a place.

Mount Targon is an enormous mountain on which two societies dwell. The Rakkor tribe, of which Pantheon is a member, are artisans of combat, wielding relic weapons with ancient power they hold battle as an artform. Above them on the mountain are the Solari, a group that reveres the sun. Their chosen, having been born a Rakkorian, is Leona, but time will tell if her destiny is bright or bleak, with the arrival of Diana, who has since decimated the Solari.

Bandle City is a rural city that serves as the homeland of the Yordles. A race of diminutive humanoids who's males are furry, they are curios and are known for their advances in the field of techmaturgy. While the origin of their kind is unclear, some Yordles like Heimerdinger suspect that the peculiar Yordle Gnar holds the secret to discovering how Yordle evolution progressed.

Techmaturgy, also known as Hextech, is essentially technology fueled by magic. Piltover and Zaun are two nations who are extensively invested in its progress, with marvals of technology coming from both areas. Piltover is the shining beacon of progress, or so it believes, with its streets being kept clean or crime by Caitlyn, the Sherrif and her enforcer Vi while Zaun is a place of unchecked experimentation where morals aren't as strictly adhered to as some would like, leading to strange creatures such as Zac and Twitch.

Ionia is an island to the east of Valoran known for spiritualism and being a peaceful land. Some of the most incredible humans come from this land, but it is not without strife. A conflict between the Kinkou Ninjas and the Order of Shadows is underfoot, while Syndra holds her temple high in the sky, ready to take on Ionia's rulers. In the south Noxian occupation continues, with the Ionians there having a not so great lidestyle.

South of Ionia is Blue Flame Isles, an island chain where Bilgewater exists. A town made for sea-farrers it has its fair share of piracy and shady deals, but it has bigger problems at the moment as the Black Mist rolls across the sea.

The mist comes from the Shadow Isles, a mysterious island where once a great kingdom stood. A man known only as the "Ruined King" ordered his sorcerers to break the barrier between life and death here long ago, an event which sundered the land and gave rise to horrifying, unliving abominations. Who truly rules the Isle is unclear, but as the mist rolls out they claim more souls for their seemingly endless horde.

I think I got everything that's majorly important. I know I forgot Icathia and Urtistan but this is getting long so I'm cutting those out for now.

Hope this helps!

There is no lore.

I'm not sure if a finished story within League actually exists anymore, if it ever did.

Q.Q

RIP Lore, though I did find a thread a long time ago about a guy who made his own version of the lore. People still do this, they take the lore and they make their own format.

Uh you could look up the journal of justice on the league wiki page. You could also find lore posts on there too. However the old lore got retconned, so, here is no lore technically, just champ bios and world events.

The wiki archives all the lore that Riot released, start from there :)

What lore?

I'm serious, all the lore was retconned a while back. Their has been no unifying framework put together since then, and much of what we currently get is contradictory. We don't know what counts as canon and what doesn't.

Sharjo, you forgot about Bilgewater, the random pirate town that has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the rest of the world. Gangplank eats oranges there. MissFortune apparently hunts him.

Also Nami is kind of a floating fish just kind of wandering around apparently, she is looking for a moonstone? someone direct her to the nearest pokemon game.

And Bandle city? yea Teemo is from there, he collects exploding mushrooms and darts. Tristana is from there, apparently they have some sort of military. Gnar Is actually a prehistoric yordle somehow living in the present.

Annie lived in the woods with her parents then she found a bear! now she is a fire caster with a bear.

best lore, epic lore
