Concerning the Sun

Something I was wondering recently that I couldn't find the answer to, with the (recentish) return of the Shuriman Empire, led by Azir, and by extension, the Sun Disc, what is the culture's opinion of the Solari on Mount Targon, and vice versa?

For the Solari, I'd imagine that the Sun Disc returning would at least spark an interest. With Mount Targon being on the border of the Shuriman Desert (By the maps I have access to anyway), I don't doubt that Azir wouldn't at least attempt to add them to his empire through a sort of religious pressure, as the mountain is in a strategically important spot for Shurima's defense from any northern aggression.

So I have some questions for you guys to think about:

  • How would the Solari react to the events in Shurima?
  • How would the Lunari (which is just Diana right now I think, I haven't heard otherwise) react? Maybe if there's a Sun Disc, perhaps there's a Moon Disc as well?
  • How would Azir react to a group of sun worshipers on the edge of his territory that live on a strategically important landmark, and produce excellent fighters?

Unrelated:

  • Why does Leona have an ability that relies on the Moon blocking out the light of the Sun, and why does it make her harder to kill? (Eclipse)

I'm eager to hear your thoughts on the subject!

I think Eclipse is that she's draining the sun's energy to sustain herself and then let's out a burst using the energy. I don't actually know though.

There are two types of eclipses, solar and lunar, depending on what's being blocked. Solar is what you're thinking of, where the moon moves directly between the earth and the sun. Lunar eclipses are when the earth is between the moon and sun, blocking sunlight from the moon (and moonlight=reflected sunlight), potentially saying she's toughening up to be an eclipse for her team, blocking out the enemy team.

It's unknown if the two cultures even existed at the same time. Shurima was an empire from thousands of years ago, the Solari could have risen before, during or after the time of Shurima. And then there's the distance between the two places and who knows how easy it is to travel from Shurima to Mt. Targon. A few traders and merchants may have made the trips leading to whispers and tales of another society that also worships the sun.

I think the Solari would either not care too much about the rise of Shurima or not agree with the methods in which they worship the Sun. The Solari seem fairly rigid in their ways of thinking (i.e Leo's lore & the fight etc) so I doubt they would be open to changing their customs. If anything Shurima might want to eradicate Mt Targon but that would probably be a decent amount of effort to even get to the top of Mt Targon.
