A topic I haven't seen addressed yet: Kai'Sa's name

So pretty much all the void creatures use this two-syllable name structure with the ' delineating where the cut of syllables is. However, the human characters affected by the void (Malzahar and Kassadin) don't follow this name scheme. So why is Kai'Sa? I'm hoping it'll be addressed in her lore, but there's some tantalizing possibilities.

  1. A modification of her human name to fit in with the void?
  2. Is it the name of the creature she's using as a symbiote?
  3. A combination of the two? What do y'all think? Any crazy ideas, or hints I missed? Do you think we'll find out what her human name is, especially if she's Kassadin's long-hinted at daughter?

IIRC, the Void creatures aren't actually named Cho'gath, Kog'maw, Rek'sai, etc. Those are actually names from ancient Shuriman. So it's possible that's just a name Kassadin (or her mother) thought was pretty, though I'd definitely wager there's more to it than that.

So I have a kind of tinfoil theory on this one... prepare yourself.

I think Kai'sa is a good assimilation of Kassadin. Assuming she actually is his daughter and was lost to the void at a very young age it would make sense for her to be more attached to her father's name than her. So as the void slowly twisted her, the name Kassadin became assimilated into Kai'Sa and became her identity.

Pretty nutty and I'll be more interested in how this name evolves as we learn more lore.

Her name is just Kalista with less letters

I've thought about this too. I think Kaisa works much better on it's own rather than Kai'sa. The ' seems a little extra

All Voidborn carry names said to be in Ancient Shuriman. A common naming convention amongst the voidborn is to have their unique name be combined with the last syllable of their species name, being separated by an apostrophe in the middle.

RekSai Rek'Sai's name, where "Rek" is her unique name, and "Sai" would be the last syllable of her species' name, Xer'Sai.

That would probably mean that Kai'Sa's actual name is Kai and she added her symbiote's species name: Kai + ??'Sa = Kai'Sa
