Zed and the Red Cape

calibergunsaint··10 votes·1,103 views

So I recently watched the the animated short "Death Mark" ( which was great Riot, keep it up) and all of the sudden a voice popped up in my head, saying something is off. At the end of the video we see Zed standing over his new victims, his red cape moving in the wind, which got me thinking:" Why is Zed, a well trained ninja, wears something so colorful? the red parts in his armor are dark enough to blend in shadows but the cape? doesn't make any sense" And then it hit me. As we know from the lore, Zed,Shen and their master went out to find and stop the Golden Demon (Jhin which I love give him more skins and buffs) and as the hunt went on, they all lost something, Zed began to fail and dubt his studies,Shen lost his happy behavior and The Master lost his most known feature.... his Red Hair. MY THEORY: Zed either wants to honor his Master by this feature, or he wants to show the world that he can become better then his Master, wearing his signature as a sign of supremacy or even both. please let me know if it's a known fact or if I really found out something and if I did, what do you think? Is it honoring or shaming Zed's Master?

I like this theory. The Jhin color text clearly shows that Zed is a grey character, he also doesn't hate Shen. Zed probably felt remorse killing his former master, so it doesn't seem that unlikely.

Thank you for your comment! I actually think that it's Zed's way to surpass his teacher, by taking something that was his and going even further then him nothing says "Vendeta" quite like stealing what was yours and demolishing it.

Actually I think it is both - he is is honoring and demolishing it at the same time. Personally I see Zed as person with strong and - most important - complicated emotion. He is a complexe character, who maybe does feel sorry for his action, but would do it again if he had to. It does kinda makes Zed even more grey, if this theory does have some truth... Nevertheless, I approved it (and also got my upvote).

Riot, probably: We added the red cape 'cause it looks sick.

Lol, probably so

Who would not wear a red cape ?[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

I agree, RED CAPES ARE AWESOME! Still, for a ninja who's deal is darkness and such, not very useful

What if killer of Master Kusho is Kayn?

calibergunsaint3 votes

Doesn't seem very possible, considering that in the lore it's said that Zed killed his Master( or did something else that made him disapper) BUT! We can theorize that Kayn helped Zed in taking down the other Ninjas, And even maybe that's where Kayn found the Darkin! Still, you made a great theory! GJ!

The old man implored Zed to enter the temple, destroy the box, and lead his followers to balance. The dark ninja followed the master inside. Moments later, the assembled ninjas heard Zed cry out in pain. Mysteriously, he emerged unscathed, and threw the severed head of the master at Shen's feet. Screaming in rage, Zed commanded his followers to slaughter the master's students and seize the box.

Bio of Zed doesn't clearly say Zed is killer of Master Kusho.

Why would he cry out in pain?

There are theories that say what Kusho said or did in the room in order to bring Zed back into the balance angered Zed so much that he cried out and killed Kusho. Also, It's written that only Zed entered the room after Kusho, which making him the only one able to kill Kusho BUT!! We do know Kayn is able to go through walls, maybe he did kill him after all and that's why Zed cried out! AWESOME THEORY!![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Maybe it was just chilly outside and he wanted to protect himself from wind

Lol maybe I did take it too far and analyzed too much But hey,it's just a theory

Oh yeah! He probably shaved Kusho and made the cloth directly from his hair!

A bit weird, but it's still a theory! we'll keep that option open for now!

Red actually blends into darkness pretty well, afaik.

True, the parts of his armor which are red can blend really good, but the brightness of the cape really can't be unseen. Actually, Your comment gave me another idea to think about even if the cape can blend in the darkness, why does Zed wear it? He's known to be practical, only carrying his weapons and armor needed for his missions. Then why does he wear that cape, which gives no protection or is useful for him in any way??
