Pyke's VO is one of the most bare-bones and disappointing in recent memory.

It's only rivaled by, perhaps ironically, the champion released just prior to him, Kai'sa.

Pyke has very few interactions, not even with champions you'd think would be a no-brainer. No Nautilus interactions? Really?

And the actual lines and delivery of said lines is very... average. His teaser video played him up as a terrifying pirate revenant, but he's apparently just a generically growly pirate. He's sarcastic, jokey, and thuggish as if he was some normal pirate dude instead of the revenge-seeking spirit he is.

His release isn't as boring as Kai'sa's was, but it is interesting that, after quite a while of a largely unbroken string of solid champion releases from a VO, art, and character perspective, Riot has dropped the ball so badly with the latest two new champ releases. Here's hoping the third one won't be as poorly-handled.

Hey! Just to give some clarity here. I cut most of Pyke's VO interactions for a number of reasons. First: they rarely fire in-game. We've been trying to focus our scripts down more to be tighter. Pyke himself doesn't acknowledge a lot of other characters because he does not care who they really are, they're either on his list or going to be on his list. He doesn't care about their bio, their family, their backstory or their personality. They are names to be crossed off a list.

Seems pretty awesome to me. I like how he sends the idea that even if he's this terrifying ghoul haunting the slaughter docks he's still a man, one who's revenge may not even be driven by himself. He seems like a cool character, and I think his VO is well done.

Though knowing the boards I'll get at least one "you're just listening for what you want to hear."

Yeah, really. It’s a big step backward for Riot.

What makes you think he'd have one with Naut? Just cause he's a water-related champion?
