Hello all, me again. I love the lore of League, the game is one of the best out there of course, but it just wouldn't be "complete" without the lore in my opinion. It's this lore that helps us learn about our favorite champs and what they are about. So I've decided to do another lore/fact discussion, this time we'll be going over the races introduced in Runeterra. I will list the people that fit the category race, if I make a mistake please let me know, then I will give an idea for a new race to be introduced into Runeterra. If anyone has their own races they want to talk about then please join in.

As for my new race idea, I was thinking of Frost Giants. They could have some kind of ties to the Frozen Watchers, and if a champ was ever made from them he could join the Frostguard.

This thread on "races" lacks the obvious depth. The biggest factor into this is that you've limited your classification post onto just the playable characters. But there are plenty of in-universe things that can have their own distinction as a race of Runeterra too.

Things of note: ● There's nothing about the Dragon species. ● No mention of the many other species of Vastaya including shape shifters. ● No distinction between Volibear and what are actually the Ursine. ● You've seperated Demons from Spirits for some reason. Plus Janna and Maokai are both Spirits. ● The Targonians ARE a race associated to Runeterra even if not currently inhabiting it. ● Why are Lissandra, Swain, Udyr & the cyborgs defined separately from all others under the Humans category? ● You've assumed Angels, Elementals and Treants are a certified race... well Treant definitely isn't the other two are just debatable really. ● And a cheeky mention of the Vellox and Poros would have gone a long way.

Warwick is an altered human I would put him with Mundo. U

dyr uses the spirits of animals if I remember correctly, so he would just be a human himself.

Swain is fully human, he just fuses with his bird for his ultimate.

Ornn, Volibear, and Anivia are siblings, and I think should all be considered demigods? (Will research after work if I remember)

Thats what I have from skimming through.

I heard nidalee is classified as vastayan, not sure but someone mentioned it to me.

I'm surprised they haven't added default fantasy races like elves, since Janna nor ziliean are elves.

I'd be happy with more angels added. Get some handsome male angels for our female and homosexual player base to enjoy while we are at it.

Ornn and voli and anivia are demigods and ursine are now people who are alter themselves with magic to turn into bear people to appease voli. Jax is implied to be icathia and to be altered by the void.

Being picky, if Voli, Ornn and Anivia can be classed differently, you should split up the Vastayans. As I'm sure Nami has as much in common to Rengar as we do to a squirrel.

Also, being picky, technically ascendeds are altered humans.

I thought Soraka was always referred to as a Star Child or something, which seemed distinct from whatever AurelionSol and Bard are. Maybe they're from the same 'star plain', if you will, but Soraka seems more like what a regular denizen of that place would be, like a human on Earth, while the other two seem closer to gods.

Actually, Janna is a spirit not an elemental. Malphite is a rock creature part of a place called the Monolith, and Brand is a spirit inhabiting a human's body.

As a point of interest, in-game Orianna is a cyborg (despite that word never beig used in league) while lore Orianna is a sentient machine. In-game Orianna still has the key in her back. According to the lore, she permanently removed the key when she donated her organic heart to her ailing father. So in-game Orianna still has one organic component, and thus is still technically a cyborg.

Spirits and Demons are a tricky one right now. We don't really have a definitive page for "What is a Spirit/Demon?" It's mostly a lot of speculation and really how other cultures see them. I have a theory though.

Demons, Demi-Gods, and Spirits are all one and the same, and they are all 'siblings' in a really loose way. Ornn mentions his many, many siblings, most of which are unknown and/or starting to take physical form (which is what he's fighting for, to stop his siblings, other gods, demons and spirits, from meddling with mortals). Because of how fluid and everchaning these spirits are, they tend to look so different from one another and take form in such diverse ways to the point where they can practically be their own type of being.

Our 'Demons' are

(he took physical form by possessing a human)
and (Spooky Trinity)

Our 'Spirits' are

(much like Ornn and Volibear, she's revered as a Goddess of Zaun!),
(The most powerful of them due to how prominent Death is),
(sort of, he has the God-Willow, an extremely powerful nature spirit, inside of him). (Took the form of a treant while also holding the waters of the Blessed Isles in his roots)
Along with that, we have our Gods and Goddesses of the Freljord , and

Bard is special because he's a Multiversal Being that travels around to stop any threats to the fabric of reality and AurelionSol and Soraka are both celestial beings. Since Spirits are more focused on Runeterra, these beings are sort of just Spirits In Space, so they sort of count but also not really.

tl;dr: Demons, Spirits and Gods/Goddesses are all the same and sort of siblings in a weird way. Bard, Soraka and Aurelion don't exactly count 'cause they're from space.

Fiddlesticks is a summoned being idk if they changed his lore but that was what he was. also Nautilus is a a human that was changed by something in the ocean. Zac is a experimental being. Galio is a golem that defends demacia. Warwick is a human that Singed genetically changed into a chimera (bunch of animals mixed) Rammus is a god that people pray to and he sometimes shows up he also goes on rampages and destorys towns. Twitch is a zuan rat that was changed by its surroundings. Jax is a human. Fizz is a Vastayan. Shaco is said to be a demon but no one knows for sure. Orianna was a human that was turned into a robot or did they change or was it where the robot was based on her.. cant remember. Urgot In old lore he was revived (not sure if its the same) still he is still human...

Some points that I'd add/change: Ivern and Maokai are both treants,but treants aren't an actual species in runeterra.Ivern is a human who was transformed into a treant and maokai is a forest spirit who merely inhabits a tree.

We don't know if Elementals are really a species. So far it looks like Brand and Janna are simply spirits,though we don't know what Malphite is going to be.

And I'm not sure if celestial is even a real race or if it simply refers to every creature from space.

Pantheon isn't a human,he is a targonian who inhabits the body of a human.

Last but not least it was said that Rakans comment about Swain might be simply him mistaking swains morph abilities for the powers of a vastaya,so we don't know if Swain is a half breed.
