Taking a look at Heimerdinger and Gnar, the most recent yordles, I want to say four. Lulu was introduced right about the time Riot was solidifying their concept of what yordles should be, so she missed out on the Unification, Tristana was originally a megling, and her new splash reflects that; these splash updates do not represent future model updates, only improving on how existing splashes look.
Think of it as an HD port rather than rebuilding from scratch.
This deserves more upvotes. However i think 4 fingers are the norm: not only most yordles expose 4 fingers but also for technical issues, since it' s hard to draw-model 5 fingers in a distinguishable ways for a little ( and most of times toony ) character; or if not really hard it can make some issues in certain situation.
Tristana had to get a fifth finger added on in order to efficiently hold her cannon. Lulu was mutated by the Glade. We do not speak of Lolipoppy here... Scarlet Hammer Poppy needed an extra finger in order to deal tons of damage. Problem solved...
There's also the chance that Veigar also happened to lose one in Noxian prison. But it seems like Yordles have four.

Maybe it is like: female yordles have 5 fingers male yordles have 4 Or veigar really lost a finger on each hand(or at least on his left hand,the giant glove is big enough to be used by a 5-fingered yordle)
