I want to help/learn!

Hey everyone, my name is Daniel! I've been playing League for about 5-6 years, and I've always been fascinated by the care that goes into creating and tailoring the lore of each character. I'm currently in my second year of university at Mcgill, and my passion for creative writing and world-building has never been stronger. If there's an opportunity over the late spring and summer of 2018, I would love to be a part of the process Riot goes through when introducing new lore/elements into the game. Unfortunately, I just don't know who to get in touch with to get more information. Would someone mind pointing me in the right direction?

Thanks a bunch! [sg-ezreal]

Hey Daniel,

I am probably not the best person to ask but I'm an artist on Worldbuilding /Foundations team, AMA :)

Also here are some links about behind the scenes on lore updates : Forum post with player asking about Foundations Building Bilgewater (article) Talking Targon ( There was also two podcast with the writers about Shurima and Shadow Isles, but unfortunately the links seems broken, I've reached out to ask what's up with that ) DEV: ON STORY HOOKS Reintroducing Demacia ( video ) Building Runeterra ( why Riot is putting a lot of efforts into making an IP )

There should be another video (very similar to the Demacia one) about Targon coming out this weekend. Edit : there it is

Hope this helps, For anything else, AMA !

What was the Demacia one? I feel like I missed something here D=

EDIT: Are we going to be getting some info on Noxus soon?? It's my favourite faction <3 but it feels unloved/underdeveloped atm ;-;

I was mentioning the Reintroducing Demacia video.

Maybe... We are actively talking about what we could do for Noxus, no promises. [darius-angry]

Any chance the Universe: Regions sections will get more art? There has been some shown art from you guys that seems to never show up on the respective regions pages. And in general it’s be nice if all the regions would get more art and not have some regions have more than others

Are you referring to ( for example ) stuff like the raptor-eagles riders of Demacia that were shown in the video but are not shown on Universe ? I can ask. Usually we are super selective about what we put out there, picking images that best showcase the faction and might have impact in future stories. I have many new images of Shadow Isles I'd like to add :) Targon should get some new ones I think.

Yes. That is what I am referring to. Perfect example of you guys doing what I explained is today's Targon lore update. You guys added bunch of art/info and you put it all on its respective page. Great job on that. Thanks

That's a good point.

The Universe platform is evolving, I don't know all the details but it's in the process of improvement. It's always the balancing act of working towards big goals vs fixing something that is causing player pain. On the lore side, we've been focusing on the big stuff for a while and there's a disconnect between what our perception of the IP is VS what is accessible to most of the player base. For ex stuff like short bios in client with link to Universe, platforms team definitely want to tackle :)

I look at the boards pretty much every day, usually when I can't answer myself ( not my expertise ) I will screenshot the interesting comments and post it in internal chat.

I think reaching out to some writers from Riot on twitter could be helpful, I know CoolRadius, FauxSchizzle and JohnODyin are all accommodating people and can chat about what they've written

Should note their twitter handles are @Miketmccarthy, @thatmattdun and @johnontryin if you wanna reach out
