Lore - Why wait for Riot?

This is my first post in the "new" Boards. I have been playing League on and off for 3 years now and what got me to start playing was the awesome story behind each champion and the JoJ. I personally know 3 other players that started for the same reason. To me (and many others) League without lore is like cereal without milk.

My point is - Why wait for Riot to create a Lore for us? They have obviously proven that the problem is out of hand and it's not in their ($) interest to get it fixed any time soon. I see a lot of passionate players here that want to contribute. So let's do it ourselves. Let's take what we know from the JoJ, IoW, Champion Lores, etc. and create our own Runeterra.

We can create a website dedicated to this single purpose.

We can always use more community members and authors. Come by sometime! Or even if you go off and write your own stuff, we really do try to be inclusive. If it's even remotely possible from a continuity perspective, I'm generally willing to incorporate other community lore into the Factions canon. I'd like to start building a community continuity that (gasp) contains a League of Legends.

…and on that note, I should get back to work.

you know what, your idea is more than just leaguefactions, they obviously have their thing going on but what you are proposing is quite interesting, writing for the sole purpose of having fun and creating compelling content is basically Riot game's starting point... Many of us wants to go and work for riot but very few have the drive enough to make it.

I would encourage you to stay on track and do what you feel is best. Indeed the community doesn't have to wait for Riot, as a matter of fact, pitching content will make their work a tad harder perhaps and you know what they say... if you can't beat them... hire them.

Calling dibs! Will this idea lead to Undergrounds with the supports of certain Lore storyline trends, theories, Legends, Mythologies, True Life Auto-Biographies? This is only Lore, Right? Or, would Champion Skins be involved? Has this social create own Lore ever lead to social bullying escalated, or anything else compromising to League of Legends?

Personally, I think skins have some bearing on champion lore. Like, Riven, in her Redeemed skin, at some point either accomplishes her goal of restoring Noxus to its former ideals or joining Demacia. Something along those lines to make it real. I have a short story that shows why she has a bunny suit skin :P.

And I'd love to read some cool stories about champs and their interactions/relationships... beyond all the ridiculous ship fanfics out there.

I've been working on a story for a year and a half that expands the lore to some extent if you want to check it out. It's a fanfiction called Pebbles along the Path, and it was in its prime just before the old forums went down so of course I would be a bit salty about Riot taking it down. I understand that it's a pretty long fanfic and the start is not great from the best, but I did a stand alone piece that is a better representation of what it entails (shameless plug is shameless). I personally think that it's a pretty strong story overall and touches on a couple of harder concepts that Riot would never touch (it's got slavery and rape in later chapters, so yeah...). If anything I'd be for this idea if anything, but I have a lot of my own things to do and can't make websites. I can help out with stories and such, but I'm very focused on my own take so I'll probably have to stop at just helping others to set up their own stories for the most part.
