Will Riot ever make an anime series for League. It has so much rich background lore, in-game quest and characters, that not making one seems rather dumbfounded. Rather than fan made ones (which are beautifully done), wouldn't League benefit more if it had an anime to fill in the gaps where the lore couldn't. Though all these trailers for skins look amazing, it seems like a waste as the money going towards it, could be use to create an animated series. I don't know how much traction this will get, but with the amount of bland anime it have right now, Rito could step in with a LoL anime and make millions. Imagine watching Rengar vs Kha'Zix, or how lucian lost his wife to thresh. item 3070 item 3070 [zombie-brand-mindblown]

It probably won't work. There are only so many anime where a gigantic rosters actually worked (most tend to resort to character "off-ing" sprees at some point as the author can no longer handle the cast size and balancing, and it doesn't feel neither great or sensible). Anime series on LoL is too risky.

league didn't originate from japan so it cant be called anime. the title of a true anime is only given to shows made in japan not cheap rip offs like avatar

It would be nice to see any kind of media set in Runeterra. An anime or series about the Champions and their day to day life in the Institute of War could be fun. Alternately, novels covering the history of Demacia or Noxus - similar to the Horus Heresy series for 40k - would be a great way to really delve into the history of the world, and a handful of champions in particular. Riot is developing such a rich world. There are tons of ways it could be explored. It would be a shame if it was used merely as a background/flavor for Champions in Rift games.

The way I would imagine it could take place would be to do a 4-5 episode spotlight on, say, Garen and Katarina. You could have two episodes of Garen, where he is training his troops, developing his battle strategy, flashing back to better days (you have to have a flashback or two) and then switch to Katarina for two episodes and do the same. Then, in the final episode, they meet on the field of battle, and I leave the rest to the writers with a WAYYY better imagination than me.

The beauty of it is that it could be done for all of the usual matches. Sej and Ashe, Kha and Rengar, Blitz and Victor, WW and Singed, so on and so forth. It was successful, rito would pour more money into it and, after covering all their bases, spin it into a larger scale story.
