Did they get them from the same place? Did they train together? Are they linked in some way?

The googles of Yi were made by Heimerdinger.
In the old lore the goggles Yi wears were made by Heimerdinger. Now? Sod if I know. The chances of Heimerdinger and Master Yi actually meeting in the new lore are likely slim to nill. Might have some Ionian lore tied to them instead.
