Idea to Generate a Better Place to put people

Why not have league a two separate gaming experience. The age range of some of the summoners is drastically different. Why not give an option for a "mature" NA server rather than putting everyone in the same. I'd assume people that are older can take name-calling and aren't scared little children that get offended by text on a screen. That's my opinion on this matter. If you look at the top tier league streamers and players in general. They dont even use their chat cause they know they'd be muted and or banned for "toxicity". When in reality it's some child getting butt hurt over chat on a screen. I think there should be a way to separate people and have some sign a agreement to not CARE about what people say about them. Oh man someone called me a baddie or a feeder. Like who cares you know after that game they are going to queue for another match, so WHO CARES!

Because age and maturity doesn't equate to a desire to be shit-talked in game.

I'm 27, for example. I can and have put up with a lot of verbal abuse in those 27 years: it really doesn't bother me as anything more than a minor nuisance. That said, do I want to encounter it (and/or enjoy encountering it) when I'm enjoying a movie at the theater or a drink at my favorite bar though? No.

Similarly, nor do I care to encounter it when I'm just trying to relax with a fun game of League.

You'd have a better suggestion to divide the servers up between "expectations of civility" and "willingness to abuse/be abused," but Riot has decided they don't want to cater to the demographic that can't have fun unless they're insulting / flaming their teammates.

Your examples were real life events and your always going to experience toxicity in league games if you are losing. Not just that that's why u have the option to mute everyone in the first place if u want to have it be "relaxing". ALSO most people that play ranked for instance do it to progress and put themselves under a lot of stress to climb. So you can experience your relaxing games in norms. And its not about having fun by flaming thats not what im getting at. Why ban someone for raging at someone? Riot has banned numerous people for being toxic alone and in my opinion its stupid. You cant ban toxicity you can only guide it.

That's because League is part of my real life. I play League to have a good time, much like I'd do at a bar, theater, or other entertainment venue. The medium may vary, but the end goal and the desire for a positive, fun experience do not.

I have had a number of games where we have lost with good spirits and a smile on our faces. In an ideal MMR-balanced system, 50% of your games will be losses. If you can't have fun while losing, at least 50% of your League career will be awful. Why would you do that to yourself? I won't go to a bar where 50% of the time they serve me water, for example. :P

People can still be toxic in normal games. Plus, I never said I'm not trying my best to win -- I can just do that AND relax and have a good time simultaneously.

I was a competitive fencer for nearly 10 years. I took it very seriously, as did my opponents. Yet before and after the match we'd be wishing each other good luck, chatting, exchanging tips on beating the other guys we saw in the competition, and so forth. When bouting we were respectful and friendly, even when we'd rib the other guy a bit for missing the touch. It was a relaxed, fun atmosphere -- those guys who took things too seriously and would get angry or yell at other competitors got a bad reputation in the community.

Competitive is NOT the same as uncivil, and shouldn't be.

Then why allow it? What purpose is served by belittling, insulting, and harassing your teammates and your fellow human beings?

Why ban someone for raging at someone?

For the same reason you get kicked out of a theater for harassing someone -- you're making the environment unwelcoming for everyone else forced to put up with your horrible behavior. Riot wants to be known as a company that tries to create a good environment -- not as one that allows their players to be harassed and insulted.
