Losing LP due to uncontrollable circumstances

Yes this is gonna be another complaint thread.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I do not blame RIOT for these instances in any fashion whatsoever. Nor do I feel bad after losing to a team that clearly outplayed my team. What bothers me is losing LP/Promos because someone on my team either AFKs/Disconnects/Feeds (intentionally more than just being bad at said position/matchup).

I normally play support and I would say I'm fairly good at it for my current ELO and more often than not I win my lane or snowball my adc, but nothing frustrates me more than losing a game and subsequently LP/promos to something I can't control. I want to climb, I want to be challenged against like-skilled players and I want to get better but I'm having a hard time not getting tilted for taking one step forward only to take one or two steps back.

I am glad that RIOT added some safeguards such as remakes, most recently with ARAM remakes, but I do feel that there could be some changes to the LP system that improve upon the overall system.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I'd like to see some form of LP protection system if a team has a member DC, it doesn't have to be a complete protection, but say your mid lane DC's at 15min and is offline for 5 min while the opposing mid laner has free range on the lane or forces another lane to shift, jungle to lose their pressure etc. Even if the player returns, he's now 5 min behind which you know can mean the world of difference. I wouldn't think it would be too hard for the losing team to receive a 50% protection (arbitrary number) to LP loss for said game. I'm sure it would be more difficult to protect a promo series but there has to be -something- that can be done to improve on this, no?

I report anyone that AFKs during a game but I do notice an incredibly high number of instances where this happens, which is discouraging as a player trying to climb and does make me wonder if the reporting system is actually effective at all.

I apologize for the long post and the rant but I just needed to vent a bit about these issues I perceive to be a hindrance to the overall quality of the game. Again, I do not blame RIOT for these instances and I do try to stay positive about the game in general.
