I am scared to come back after 14 day ban

Xterixna·1/7/2016, 5:42:14 AM·10 votes·4,946 views

So, i got banned for 14 days on the 29th for toxic behavior, and i definitely deserved it. Now, on my days off, i have been researching the Permanent ban phenomenon occurring after the 14 day ban which truly scares me. People in the same scenario as myself, came back with thoughts of being more positive or neutral and received the permanent ban? I'm stuck here and have no idea what to do, i hope the same doesn't happen to me.

EDIT: I am not worried that i will be toxic, I have put a stop on typing to people completely or applauding good plays (been working on my smurf)

Just don't type anything and you'll be fine. Mute all, drag the box off the screen, don't type. I've been loosening up on that recently now that I've had the account back for over 2 weeks, but the first few games I was too scared to risk instantly tilting.

You will get permabanned. Just stop playing now.

Don't speak at all in chat. Mute everyone at the beginning of the game if you have to. There are tons of little "negative" technicalities that people can report you for that might get your account flagged for review. And if rito finds the slightest bit of negative/passive aggressive behavior in the chat, then the next punishment you'll receive is a permanent ban.

Don't say "gg game's over." Don't say "ff20." Don't comment on your team's actions, no matter how bad or frustrating they are, to them, to the other team, to no one in particular.. Don't say anything. Use pings only.

If you don't use chat at all, even if someone reports you for something and your account gets flagged, you should be fine. rito reviews accounts before permanently banning them, and if there's no chat, there's not going to be much for them to go on. If you get reported in a game you've used chat in the slightest, I wouldn't trust rito's review process as far as I could throw it that they'll spare you.

The people that came back and went straight to their permaban were still toxic. It only takes one misstep to validate a report, and the severity of that one reported offense is irrelevant if it pushes you over the line. People that just got punished will already be on the line because the only way to diminish your toxic record is by diluting it with non-negative games. Finishing a punishment does not erase your record.

If your problem is toxic chat and you're afraid you might mess up, don't chat for a while. Play a lot of games where the only things you say are positive, or don't say anything.

Unfortunately I feel very close to this. After my first chat restriction, which I wouldn't say deserved, it was understandable. However, after playing the game like a normal person with casual jokes with not a single swear word or negativity directed at anyone. I was placed directly into a 14 suspension and when I returned I just muted everyone and didn't talk. Despite my efforts to avoid riots thirst for punishments I was perma banned. I sent an email and although the staff member could clearly see that it wasn't deserved he would consistently refer back to my old games saying "I read your previous logs and you are getting into unnecessary arguments and you get punished because other players express their distaste in it". He was anything but helpful; assumingly, that this was due to riot publicly announcing that they wouldn't remove punishments for any reason. There is absolutely no reason for this extensive of ignorance and bold punishments. Ultimately, this is abuse by Riot's staff, and it needs to be dealt with, however they see no problem in their flaws and most likely ignore the problems, primarily because its backed with forum trolls that are even more toxic than anything said in game.

RIP Riot Games.

I'm not letting the fear stop me. Since I came back on the first I've had a few false reports for offensive languages (games where the only thing I've said were Jungle, and Ty, when thanking for the leash) and yes, it's pissing me off that riot is allowing this behavior to continue when people who are being super toxic, intentionally feeding, and/or exploiting using scripting software such as bot of legends, which is currently undetectable if fed through a keyboard and mouse, to continue to play the game.

In fact, in the past 3 games I've played this evening I've been hammered with toxic chat, been told that I should kill myself, and had someone laugh in my face as he admitted he was scripting (in a normal game mind you). I'm starting to feel that just because I was on the 14 day ween that my reports are worthless. I'm honestly about to load up my OBS and start streaming my games on twitch just to put them on the boards to prove that riots system is not working as intended on a majority of the toxicity in this game (I was planning on starting that this year anyway).

I love playing this game, and I want it to be a good environment for everyone to play, but right now riots anti toxicity program is falling behind.

Both Heroes of the storm, and Dota 2 are leaps ahead of curbing toxicity at the moment. In the two weeks I was banned, I played Heroes of the storm (been playing on and off since alpha) and toxic players were dealt with in a timely fashion. No false reports were done to me, and all false reports against my account were immediately thrown out without any sort of pop up message.

what I want to see is riot actually care about their reports when they are done, and wait to do anything like a pop up unless it was a legitimate report

Also, if you want someone to play with, feel free to add me :D

You could try not being toxic?

Sarutobi1/7/2016, 5:48:24 AM2 votes

If you are that worried just dont type anything, probably just Mute All the moment you get into a game. Pings can be used as communication so just use that.

Embrace that fear. Every time some jerkoff flames me, or starts calling me names and whatnot, I tell myself "It's not worth the permaban". And it's been working.

Disneylord1/7/2016, 6:09:05 AM2 votes

if you were banned for 14 days even if you say ''idiot'' or something like this youl get perma banned so its like you are alreaedy pearmed anyway

May I say well done for coming to that realisation and working on your behaviour. It takes a lot of work to change. If you were on EUW I would love to play with the new reformed you.

Same here man.. Ive been playing for a while after the 14 day ban and ive been trying really hard but some of my bad games get me terrified and after I finish them I just think "thats the one that gets me banned". I got so scared once I even apologized to someone when I was being rude in game.

shyv1/7/2016, 6:15:22 AM1 votes

honestly yeah it's pretty terrifying, especially since i love playing off meta things so much and people always say they're going to report me for intentionally feeding. so far nothing has happened but i have gotten warnings from the automated system so i know i have been reported several times, but they were all false reports obviously or i would be permabanned

i mean i have faith in the system because so far i haven't been unfairly banned but ever since i've been banned, every time i log on and it takes more than a couple seconds to load the front page, i panic thinking a reform card is coming. every time something in the client glitches, every time i get a message on my screen, i have a fucking heart attack

i know permabans are reviewed a lot before they're given out but it's still pretty scary. one slip up and i lose everything. trying to not play any off meta things or joke around with my friends anymore just because i'm scared of that.. i don't even say the words bitch or gay in game anymore bc i'm worried i'll get banned for sexism / homophobia if taken out of context

Never give in to retaliation. See the report button for more than it is, when people are toxic. Pretend that the report button will get them 100% of the time so there is no need to retaliate. Wait for your moment to get them(use that report button) but never put yourself in the position to be banned, not even telling other people to report someone.

Just got permabanned in this stupid and retarded server. and the trolls are still lingering around, good thing i stopped buying RP 3 years ago since my first permaban

Swallower1/7/2016, 2:02:03 PM1 votes

Honestly, easiest thing to do is to mute everyone. Also, don't type or say anything no matter how frustrated you might get.

JustJayson1/7/2016, 4:37:11 PM1 votes

I have had several games lately that were extremely toxic. Even an arranged group of 4 in a normal game that said they were all going to report me before laning phase even started and was telling the other team in all chat that i was toxic and to report me.

It happens, its frustrating. You can mute players and rely on pings which helps somewhat. It is always more fun to play with friends and get on teamspeak.

If you are easily irritated and explode on people in chat that say something negative try to just hit mute and go about your game.

I know that I have had people go off on me for saying some constructive criticism(apparently not a good idea to do as everyone thinks their way is the best because it has worked in the past). Soo I no longer tell them anything at all and just watch them implode and start blaming everyone on the team but themselves. Then quietly report them whether win or lose. If you start getting toxic in chat then you are just going to tilt your entire team making it difficult to coordinate any sort of team fight.

You have nothing to worry about if you have truly reformed. If you come back and take the necessary steps to blocking out the hate speech and focus solely on the game then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. The second you let your fingers start to vent the rage you're building that is when you have proven you deserve the perma-ban.

Steps to help prevent things: type "/mute all" at the start of the game Disable all chat actively use the mute function to block out hate speech instead of typing your anger vocally vent your anger

These steps are not always needed, but they do help prevent a lot of crap.
