Where I say "you're a fucking retard" in quotes, I'm responding to the Yasuo in-game who asked why I'm reporting him. He said those words pre-game so when he asked why I'm reporting I merely quoted what he said to tell him what I was reporting for, I was in no way calling him or anyone such a thing.

From my perspective, there's nothing wrong at all with this chat, so please let me know if you find anything different.

Don't claim that you're going to report someone, or ask others to report. The report does not require either to function, saying it in chat is just an attempt to upset/alienate the other player.

Tell me, what is the purpose of saying that you're going to report someone? It's not required to tell the person that you're going to report them. You're not asking them to stop.

No, it's a quick revenge message. The message that's conveyed is, "Hey, I'm going to threaten your account because I don't like that you're doing X".

actually "please stop being toxic in chat or i will report you" has viable strategic purpose, if a player isn't responding to "please stop being toxic" adding the idea of a report MIGHT be enough to get them to stop "not always, but it sometimes works"

People here are just looking for excuses to call a toxic player out but not to help him or understand his postion . Fuck that he report called because he was called a retard. there is a diffrence between a hypocrite and sensitive. One is considered offensive and it feels like calling smn out the other is just a type of a person. Yea IMO you are over senistive is it bad ? in some situations , but it works for others.

I'm not offended by the insult, I'm annoyed by hypocrites. Hypocritical behavior is my pet-peeve.

You start your argument this thread with a statement that report calling is punishable, then backpedal on it.

You preach that people should forgive and show some leniency, but ignore that the OP didn't "forgive" whoever they were asking others to report.

Once you established that you don't think that report calling is that bad, you say "people like you who are just here to report/downvote without helping others are disgusting"

This isn't ban worthy, this is chat restriction worthy Nobody here is looking for a ban hammer, they're merely stating why in fact he received the punishment

Friendly banter and harassment are not one and the same. If you believe they are that is fine. This is an example of probably continual mild harassment over several games rather than toxic for 1 game

Here's the thing. Riot no longer worries about whether or not the punishment "fits" because their research shows that the actual punishment is pretty much irrelevant to whether or not a player will change. That's why they went to a 4-step system with limited opportunities to reduce punishment level.

Saying you're going to report someone, or asking others to report someone, is a bannable offense.

Being sarcastic, or using words/phrases like "go die" "kys" and the like, is bannable offense.

It's an automated AI that tracks certain phrases and keywords and flags it as toxic, but it's pretty stupid and doesn't understand the difference between a serious phrase or a sarcastic one.

For example, if I said "omg don't take my farm or I afk :d" and my team was ahead and knew I was being sarcastic, that would still be flagged as toxicity.

This is by far probably the least toxic chat log I've seen on the boards and would actually submit a ticket to Riot. Then, learn to mute. And remove all non-essential keys from your keyboard.

I love how this boards is more intrested in finding everything you did wrong than trying to ban a guy that made hate speech comments and made fun of mental disabilities ... Remember people here are trying to make their chat experience some kind of utopia where you cant tell smn he is bad , where you cant call smn for their actions. You shouldnt bother reading their comments League Community is so sensitive towards "negativity " yet they forgot a main purpose of this system. They care more about banning people for this type of shit like calling for reports , than actuall hate speech or purposely ruining smns game by inting.

I highly recommend you to /mute all in game , most people you meet will not be friendly or smart so you shouldnt bother :)

Who the hell is claiming this?

Each person is responsible for their own behavior. This isn't, "Player Y had worse behavior than player X, so only player Y should be banned".

If both players had poor behavior, then both players are responsible for their poor behavior. But right now, we're looking at one player's behavior.

The above quote from the summoner's code is in regaurd to "lowering yourself to their level". It says nothing about refraining from reporting the player.

"f you end up in a game with an abusive player, don't lower yourself to their level. Instead, politely ask them to calm down."

Having empathy is fine but there comes a point where you have to draw the line. You can have empathy while also being fair in your judgement of something or someone.

As far as AeroWaffle is concerned, when he pointed out to you that everyone is responsible and held accountable for their own behavior you claim that he's oversensitive and offended by other peoples poor behavior and that because he primarily plays vs. ai he's never encountered any toxic people himself. That is neither driving constructive feedback nor facilitating civil discussion.

Again, you can have empathy while also being fair and valid in your discussion and/or verdict. Having empathy doesn't mean that ones poor behavior is automatically excused. We all get frustrated and we've all encountered trolls and jerks at some point in our history playing this game-they're not exclusive to a particular mode or map. We also have all gotten frustrated at some point in time. and it's because of that frustration that we can try to understand where other people are coming from when trying to help them out.

See, we regulars here do try to help out others, but when the same old tired arguments and excuses and insults pop up again and again (often from the same people no less), that's when we start to get annoyed. We can have a respectful conversation with others so long as both sides are willing to listen. Is it always easy to do? No. Is it possible to do? Yes.

Telling the other players to die, telling others to report him several times, and belittling him because of his rank - which im pretty sure youre around the same rank as him so I dont know what point youre trying to make ? A mentality to say things like that is the reason you are where you are now.

Alrighty, this is what stands out to me, from reading through your logs:

I can see where this line would have gotten picked up by the automated system, but in the context, it does appear like it's referring to the position of the champion in the game, and not the player personally. It doesn't appear to be toxic to me.

This paragraph is relatively mild, but you're walking the line when it comes to calling for reports. While it's fine to encourage teammates like the Annie, by telling them to not worry about toxic players, and to just mute and move on, when you start mentioning it in all chat, asking for other people to do so, and talking about him being banned, you've gone past what is acceptable. You've gone into harassment territory, and where Riot no longer finds it acceptable. There is no need to ever ask for reports against another player. It only takes ONE REPORT to flag a game for review by the Instant Feedback System. Yours. You don't need anyone else in the game to report them with you.

Mkay, even without you explaining the context of this, it seemed pretty clear that it wasn't something you were saying just to be toxic. However, a chatbot like the IFS may not necessarily look for context. You may want to consider submitting a ticket to Player Support, but as a rule, they do not overturn bans issued by the IFS. I am not certain if that extends to chat restrictions. And given that this is only a ten game chat restriction, it's extremely minor, and you should be able to work that off in no time.

As the others have said, it is considered harassment to call for reports, or to mention repeatedly that you will be reporting someone in chat. But that is honestly the only thing that I see in chat where you actually broke the rules. And it was so minor, that had I been playing in the game, I would not have felt the desire to report you for it. Hell, given that you seemed to be trying to encourage the Annie, who appears to have been taking the brunt of some toxicity, I would have probably HONORED you and wanted to play with you again. The only two things that strike me as something to avoid, seem to be either a glitch of context, or just bad timing on the report getting flagged. Because it really doesn't seem like you are telling the other player to go die, nor does it seem like you are calling the other player a f@cking r@tard. Just for your own personal edification and safety in the future, you might want to refrain from quoting the toxicity that your teammates can come up with, at least outside of the info box on the report screen, since you do run the risk of the bot picking you up for it.

10 game chat restrictions is like Strike 1 for most people, considered as a "warning"

This is due to minor offenses:

  1. harassment of a teammate
  2. negative behaviors
  3. Ingame use of inappropriate words (no excuses)
  4. inciting a report/threatening a report (unsportsmanlike) - do it anonymously

remember this is strike 1, after the chat restriction is lifted, any future punishment will be considered strike 2 = suspension or straight to strike 3 = permanent ban aka account deletion.

Be careful what you type, cause Riots Automated system reads your words and doesn't need context of why they were typed.

TLDR basically in game chat is not for idle chatter or banter, it's not a chat room. watch what you say next time
