20 Minute Ban

The last time I remember leaving a game was mid-November. However, this morning, I had to abandon a game due to familial reasons and I now have to wait 20 minutes before I can enter the queue. This punishment lasts for 5 games. I understand that leaving ruins the game and I would not mind having to wait 10 minutes for a game. But 20 minutes for the first abandon in around a month and a half? And also, the entire twenty minutes I have to stare at the timer. I cant even go to the store, look at my profile, check out my loot, or reply to a message. If i do any of these things I will leave the queue and have to wait another 20 minutes. Riot could you at least change it so that if a person is in low priority queue, they can look around the client?

I didnt played League for a year because of that bann. I shared my account with another guy so he could smurf and do what ever he wants with this account... How ever I decided this weekend to play League again. Well and it seems like this guy went afk a few times.... It kind of sucks. Now I have to wait 20 minutes before a game starts and I can´t even see how many matches are left until the bann is gone. I don´t know if there was a new update that says that this bann doesn´t even goes away... It sucks and this is probably the reasson why i play maybe 2-3 games and deinstall this game again... It even sucks more that I invested pretty much money in my account and now I barely can use it...

Have you played much since mid-November?

Emergencies happen, but the system usually accounts for them. I've had a handful of internet problems/power outages/hurricanes in my time playing League, but never enough to get so much as a 5-minute penalty, let alone 20 minutes.

if you already went up to 20min low prio in the past, it will stay there and "normal family things" how about you dont play in the first place then ? u ruined the game and want to get cheered on?

I'm pretty sure your "punishment tier" lowers over time. But Mid-November may not have been enough time to lower it.

lol what? The highest I've gotten to before was 10 minutes low prio. It wasnt a normal family thing, so I didnt know I wouldnt be able to finish the game. I never said I wanted to get cheered on, its just when I got low prio the system said "for repeated offenses" when it was the first offense in a while. If someone ruined the game for me I would want them to get punished, but I understand that shit happens and sometimes people have to leave.

ive had 20 minutes of low priority even tho i left the game for everybodys good ( we failed swapped and i ended with collosus ghost smite caitlyn and smbd ended with hecarim with flash heal and warlords ) the only reason i afk'd is so we can remake a game and only I loose LP ( it was my fault my internet got cucked in the middle of swapping ). Its pain in the ass but its only 5 games

got low priority que 5m for 5games.. for their game not loading 3x over 3 days..

rank que popped .. i picked my champ ... when it went to loading into the actual game it crashed.. after crash the client forced to recheck files and redownload updates...
wrote ticket about the crash and sent in logs cause i lost 20LP over it and 5m reque ban.. they wrote back to uninstall and redownload the client into c: drive blah blah.. Did that then played a bot match to see if it loaded all the way thru... DID GREAT! ranked for que .. same thing happen.... so now 2nd leaver.. another 20LP
This time redid the steps plus was asked to DL Hextech repair thing.. same process.. went to bot game fine... went to rank que.. another crash.. 3rd leaver banned for 5 games 5m reque...

RIOT FIX YOUR CLIENT... its not just one person its happening all around

i got banned cuz before the game started our generator broke,luckly my dad is an electricity engineer my sister called him he came over and fixed it,it took 2 hours, we died til we fixed it,then i logged back to league the game was over,we lost (obviously),and i got put into low priority Queue,which means ban for 20 mins for 5 matches,i got pissed it was 2 weeks ago i guess,i didnt play league much since then........and i got banned again now ciz of the same reason. we probably need to change that generator.[zombie-nunu-bummed]

man its dumb i understand i left so i get punish. so i said well suck it up and wait the 20min . what really got me mad that i waited 20min then wen the game is about to start its crashes and me and 3 other friends were auto kick off. i hurry to log in so i could join fast just to see the home screen so now i have to wait another 20min . so peace i am done with this game.

So I got the ban alright? I waited,and,even though nothing happened the timer restarted at around the 13th minutes mark. Is it a common bug? It was really annoying. Did it happen to you too?

Same here Xkiller47 i got 20 min ban but now i have been in this queue in 108min like wtf and my then my timer is 13 min mark it restart to 20 and continue with over and over is so anoying pls fix it riot

guys wtf we have a bug here i was in the champion select and when i get into the game i get bugsplat and i take 20 minutes ban .. then i try to do my ban and when i am in 10 minute in the ban start again from the begin SOLOOOOO | FIX ITT WTF

If you got a 20 minute wait time then it means that you have a history of frequently leaving/afking. The system has built-in leniency for unexpected situations but frequent leaving/afking will use that leniency up. To get it back you have to not leave/afk in games and take care of everything that you need to do before you queue up for a game. From the Leaverbuster FAQ:

HOW LONG WILL I REMAIN IN THE LOW PRIORITY QUEUE? You will be placed in the low priority queue for 5 games. If you continuously leave, the low priority queue timers increase from 5 minutes per game to 20 minutes per game.

IT'S NOT MY FAULT. MY INTERNET/YOUR SERVERS DISCONNECTED ME. I HAD A REAL-LIFE EMERGENCY. I HAD TO GET OFF THE COMPUTER. THE GAME CRASHED. UNBAN ME! We understand that players may be forced to leave from time to time so the system has been designed to keep these situations in mind. After leaving a few games, you will be placed into a low priority queue; as long as you can complete 5 matchmade games without leaving, you will be returned to the normal queue. However, if you continue to leave games, you will remain in the low priority queue.

See I understand that. But the thing is, leaving one game after a month or two shouldn't count as "frequent leaving"

The way I understand it is that it's game based, not time based, meaning that you can't just quit for a few months and then come back and act like nothing happened-you actually have to play and finish some games in order to work off the Leaverbuster punishment. This is done to help prevent system gaming/manipulating.

Well then something doesn't add up. Your best bet would be to file a support ticket asking about it.

How do I do that? I'm having the same problem.. if I ever afk one game, and I'm talking like 1 a month too I get the 20 minute bans.. I honestly wonder if its a glitch.. it seems completely unfair and I really can't avoid it

At the top of the page if you mouse over Explore League you'll see a tab called Support-that's where you go to file support tickets at. When creating a support ticket try to be as detailed and as accurate as possible so that it takes less time for you to get an answer. Like I said before though you should only be getting 20 minute Leaverbuster LPQ times if you frequently leave/afk games, and this includes random, useless movements such as afk farming or just aimlessly moving around in base. Either this is a glitch in the system (which is very well possible mind you) or there is something you're not telling me.
