Honor system flawed? (bug?) (Information I am unaware of?)

Hello! I am currently honor level 2. I have a friend who has a broken computer so he can only play on my laptop. Due to the circumstances he can only play while at my house. When we play I get honored way more often and receive more honors. I also get honored alot when he is not available to play, and I spend alot of time on the game in comparison to him. He is now honor level 4 and I am confused as to how that worked out. I am not sure if the honor system takes into account honors before the update? My account is new due to certain circumstances so I do not have as much progress BEFORE the honor update. I am glad that he got honor 4 but am very curious as to why I am still at level 2. I value any and all input.
