Overpunishment for minor offenses

I have been a loyal league player for 5 years. I have never had a complaint or anything until about a week ago when i got tilted in a game. I said something in chat that i shouldn't have and received a 10 game chat ban and they took all my honor. I did my team game restriction and hoped that my honor would be unlocked but it wasn't until yesterday they unlocked my honor. Now I am unable to play clash because there isn't enough time to unlock my honor level 2 before it starts. I talked to MAMA MEEP at riot support and she made it clear that riot had no intention of correcting my overpunishment of stripping all my honor and then not unlocking it so i can earn it back. Now my team won't be able to participate in Clash. Has anyone else been over punished? I feel like not being able to play clash from one complaint in 5 years is not fair in any way.

The Clash thing is definitely unfortunate timing and probably makes this sting more than it should, but it should be worth noting that you're on the lightest punishment Riot has -- just 10 games with chat restrictions, and a loss of bonus rewards. That's pretty small, ultimately.

You're missing the grandeur scheme of things djinn, the idea isn't to isolate part of the community. It's to improve good behavior and a healthy social environment, blocking off people who had minor punishments (up to tier 2) shouldn't be punished for 3 months just to make sure they aren't "toxic" for their clash mode (which is a reworked event tournaments), this doesn't reward being non-toxic as much as it punishes players even more just because of a punishment.

People who get punished for minor offenses are going to think what happened to them is unfair when compared to people who also get punished but what they say is far worse, those players will wait out their time and instead of saying something in chat, they will just run it down mid or intentionally pick bad champions to subvert riots IFS.

A better system would be one that starts rewarding players sooner but take away some rewards for negative behavior (nothing ban/punishment worthy) this would act as a carrot and stick, much better at improving player behavior than some shoddy IFS that bans players based on 1 word.

As was shown throughout 2017, people ended up baiting good players into saying words that IFS picked up on, thousands of players were banned like this, and it took riot a full 9 months to figure that out, even though people regularly complained about it on boards.

Yea, but as soon as an account is marked (got a sanction) it's as good as banned.

No one stays quiet for more than 4-5 games and even saying "please stop" can get you banned since you're on the black-list.

That account is as good as perma'd.

Personally, I would have prefered if there had been announcements over the past weeks (re: a bit longer than the expected length to bump honor level) about the honor requirement for clash. I'm not playing due to RL issues and couldn't guarrantee time-slot availability. However, I would still have liked a bit more notice about what it was and the requirements to play.

I don't have a problem with the chat bans. Personally, though, I never like zero tolerance policies. They always manage to grab some people who don't deserve the more severe punishment. Worse, any negativity after that can earn a permaban. So I voted "yes", even though I don't support the OP's case.

I think that honor might be too difficult to gain, but that aside I think that losing honor for being punished is fair.

We don't have clash on EUW so I can't exactly relate, but it doesn't sound particularly fair

Consider yourself lucky. I was having a bad week once and started accusing all my teammates of buying their accounts/getting boosted. I got a two week ban as my first offense ever on an account that's been around 7+ years for that. =(

Fear not, you should be getting to honor level 2 again in the duration of 4 months or so (considering you're level 1 now)

I don't know if Clash is going to be around for that long but yeah, good luck.

Clash doesn't seem like that big of a deal, it's basically if you went to an event / tournament that is properly hosted by most LoL communities. Limiting the thing to honor is basically only making the pool smaller, ultimately less serious than Ranked SoloQ. If you want to clash, then I recommend seeking out communities that off these - as well as some pretty hefty prizes too.

Though I do agree that Riot goes pretty extreme for the punishments, especially for people that otherwise have no problems on the account. Though you likely won't be getting any sympathy from the forums, the community at this point supports lynchings of people that step on their morals / personal beliefs. This account had no offenses or anything, started playing a game in a lobby with a bunch of goons having a really good time. Next thing you know, we started using words that other people could take offense to in a joking and non-toxic manner . . . next thing you know, I'm 14 day suspended for joking around on a game.

If all of those games take 20 minutes each, that'd take you 200 minutes as a bare minimum - which is unlikely. If all of those games took 40 minutes, it'd be 400 minutes - and at most it can take up to 600 minutes. Not that severe, yet? Alright-

How about this: Spend 4 months getting honor back for your little mistake. Yeah, dude, not over-punishment kek. Nothing personal, kid, but see ya in 4 months - okay?

Not sure where you get the idea that the events are everywhere, riot basically ruined the event seen by removing all online events, and restricting medium-large prizes to in-person events. (Small prize event can be half done online but the semi-finals and finals must be done in-person, which are the ones that actually give rp/skin prizing).

There are a lot of different reason to why making in-person events in NA is a bad idea, distance being a major concern along with the logistics of bring a computer and housing an area that people cant screen watch each other and also the problem of who pays the electric bill.

So saying you can play clash without playing clash is just wrong since the only people who host such events are university's and college's, which are restricted to students only.

Sure you may just be a lowly Silver, but how intimidating will it be to show up with a swanky new purple banner to scare your enemies?"

Riot couldn't even spare a penny to give out exclusive content to team winners. Penny pinching that hard will sooner or later create a black hole for the company to jump in. So, yeah, you can do clash without actually playing clash . . . just look for tournaments that offer actual prizes and who don't create exclusive groups to segregate the community. Albeit, Riot made it difficult for people but communities still hand out these prizes for tournaments that can range from small to medium. I myself, have participated in 2 so far. 3200 RP, I got the rare Ryze skin as well.

Also, I would just like to add: No, it isn't intimidating Riot. It isn't intimidating to see a silver wearing a purple banner.

I also played in my fair share of tournament, I have that ryze skin as well.

True some people still host events & prize it themselves but you normally don't see them on the event page as was pointed out, they would however post them on challonge or battlefy.

The tournaments I did attend I got from the Clan Recruitment page, others I attended with Google Search. Though regardless of the fact that if Riot is being exclusive or not, people attending tournaments aren't toxic.

Rarely will people be toxic in tournaments, since the organizer will remove them and replace the person with a substitute.
