Leaver Buster is getting a little TOO aggressive
So it is everyone's worst nightmare come true. You are sitting at your computer...fending off an invade from the enemy team. You managed to avoid getting Morg stunned and killed by Ashe and ready to help my jungler. Suddenly the image on your monitor fades to nothingness and the gentle hum of your computer dies. Your computer just got unplugged... in ranked... What do you do. Do you sit there and cry? Do you just go watch a twitch stream on your phone? Or do you boot the sucker back up and try to help you team out?!
This nightmare happened to me today. My heart stopped for a second right when my computer did. As soon as I could I booted league back up and got into the game. It was hard at first but I managed to level up, get gold and make myself useful. I landed several hooks and I managed to save a few people from the an enemy Nasus with my hooks and lamps. We turned the game and win! After looking over the stats however i noticed -14LP REALLY?! I dced but booted up my computer; then I back up my team. Even though I only lost 5-10 minutes booting windows, booting league, and loading in I STILL get flagged and lost LP. I did the right thing! I came back to support my team and it payed off for them! Computer issues happen and I never report a player for leaving unless there is CLEAR evidence to show a rage-quit. Yet_ Leaverbuster simply does not care_!
What is really frustrating is there is simply no incentive to come back if I DC according to Leaverbuster. How hard is it to win a 4v5 if you are the among the 4? How many times have players rejoiced when a DC returns and again they have 5 people? How often do people QQ about wasted time if they feel that a loss is 100% assured. Right now this system dishes out the punishment so harshly there is simply no incentive to try to support your team other then being a nice guy/gal. How many players will be altruistic enough to support their team when they themselves will 100% lose? Its hard enough at times to coax people to continue to try if there is simply a single fed player. Is there anyway that leaverbuster could be eased up to NOT punish players as strongly for a DC? I would rather it catch too few then too many. Players WILL report someone leaverbuster does not catch or who attempts to game the system (and DAMN will they attempt to get a 9-man report). You may actually REDUCE the number of leavers if people still feel they have a chance to contribute and support their team rather then waste 20-30 minutes of their life.
TL:DR: I dced when computer got unplugged I booted up the computer immediately and booted up league to rejoin my team. We kicked ass and won the game, counting as a win in my match history yet LP wise (or worse maybe MMR wise it was marked a loss). Riot please ease leaver buster so it only punishes the real leavers and not a pretty bad DC. Real leavers won't go unpunished. Players will report anyone that should be punished but are missed by the system. They ALWAYS do.) Right now if you get flagged by leaverbuster it makes it so returning is a waste of time for the DC and more likely to leave their team to a 4v5.
Think/post what you will I needed to vent and maybe bring this issue to people's attention. I can always win back the LP another day.
