Its Not "Just A Norms Game"

Ok, so I get if you want to try a dumb build or maybe an off meta pick sure Normals would be a great place to try it. And yeah, you can use the excuse of it's just a normal game. But even if you are doing an off meta build or something like that, you still are trying. I feel like I've been seeing a lot of people using "It's just a norms game" as an excuse for them not trying. For example, one game we had an ADC Misfortune. She was doing well and all, not trolling, but during the late game was not actually coming and grouping with the team. Our team asked her to come help us and come over so we would be able to win the fights and the game but she didn't. She decided to split bot while we were all fighting mid. And so we ended up losing a teamfight and naturally, our team got a little agitated at the Mf but never actually said anything super rude to her. Anyways, her excuse for not coming to the teamfight was "It's just a norms game".

Now I understand that I am bronze and that it is a norms game. But what the main objective of this game? It's so that we can win (or at least have some fun). Just because normal games don't have an actual value to them doesn't mean you can just not try. Sure you don't have to give it your all, but if you are going to play a game no matter what elo it is, a game is a game. The objective of it is to win whether it is a normal or a ranked game. Now, this can't really be reported (even though we ended up losing the game we were ahead in, it is just a norms game), so I just let it be. However, I just wanted to talk about how it's not okay to use "It's just a norms game" as a way of excusing you not working together with your team/not trying because it negatively affects everyone else in the game/ on your team and makes the game less fun for other people.

PS. I would have totally been fine if the Misfortune in this scenario gave some sort of reason for her actions such as idk "I can get towers by splitting" or something but she only said that it's a norm game which is why I think it isn't ok.

Because it really is just a "norms game." Nobody really cares about winning or losing and you yourself agree without even knowing it. You're fine with people trying troll picks and troll builds, but not ok when they do trolly things?

Some people don't try hard in normal, and rather mess around then win. If you're looking to actually win, go to ranked. That's what its for. Even flex rank is there for you if you don't like solo q. Not saying what they're doing is fair to you, but can you really cry wolf when you walk into a wolf's den?

If you play this game you should be trying to win. Period. Play whatever you want, however you want, but you have to try to win.

Anything less gets a report from me. Simple.

I'd definitely report her for negative attitude, I don't like normal games but that doesnt excuse griefing

If i know the mechanics of a champ I play almost every game ranked regardless of the level of experimenting with build and in game approach. it is a waste of time to play normal because there are too many babies that will sit at base or stop trying.

OP Honestly if you changed your title to its "just solo que" it would be more accurate.

because at the end of the day " it just <any solo que> " and it is "jsut a vdieo game"

Just going to drop this copy paste here it was written for someone ranting about ranked but it goes for ANY solo que really

First of all anyone is free to play any champ in any role with any strategy. Champ select is not trolling in any way at any time

If you go into solo que expecting that it will have the same cohesiveness and team play as a premade there is your problem right there ... here is why

That is one of the reasons mute is so good . People stress out too much over what everyone elese is doing instead doing .

Its actually quite common to even have to ping mute some pme because they are stressing out tooo much,

These are the _ACTUAL FACTS _of random que:

  • People will not have the same views as you

  • They will not take ranked as a serious as you. Some actually realize this is just a VIDEO GAME

  • Some people play ranked because its more worthwhile than normal I really could care less about rank "prestige" or "LP"

  • Example: some people play ranked because at the very least they get free skin and ward at the end ... do they get that playing normal ...nooo you get nothing, So why would they ?

  • I actually have fun win OR lose , even if there is a feeder or afk if we are getting stomped or doing the stomping and I ALWAYS vote no. I don't play ranked to listen to someone stress out like losing a game is the end of the universe . Its a video game the point is to HAVE FUN actually playing the game not just the outcome ..yes again even in ranked. Some time you win some times you lose LP constantly fluctuates so don't stress about it as long as you have fun you are always a winner.

  • There are legitimate toxic people who join games for the sole purpose of ruining it for others ( intentional feeders, afk, verbal abuse etc ) you cant get away from them. Its mind boggling some who choose to spend their time ruining other people games but there are some really immature uncivilized people in this world that will log on to do just that. You just have to assume your going to get one when you hit the solo que button and prepare for it . If you don't its a bonus,

  • Riot does not enforce Meta or champ " roles" or strategy in any mode at any level.

  • There is no "unskilled" if you don't like how someone is playing its is up to YOU to leave solo que not anyone else ,

  • Riot themselves have stated that no one would ever be punished for non meta non role champ choice.

  • That means anyone is free to play any champ in any role at any time that is NOTbeing a troll breaking the summoners code,

  • you are also allowed to play " 1st time champs" in ranked as well.

Also there is no refusing to communicate - so someone who doesn't listen to you is not being a troll either . No one will be punished for muting the team and not speaking in chat so if you think you can report someone for refusing to communicate your wrong. they are NOT doing anything breaking the summoners code or riots rules either

A report flags a game for review. They do not establish guilt. The game is then reviewed for harassment, feeding, etc. This is why 'troll reporting' or 'gang reporting' do not work. False or inaccurate reports are thrown out.

You cannot ever be punished for saying nothing . unless of course it's for something gameplay related like feeding, afking or cheating. But, you can never be punished for offensive language, hate speech or verbal abuse if you said nothing.

If you can't handle all those factors and you keep joining solo que you and your own choices are the problem So stop trying to use the "summoners code to" shift the blame for YOUR displeasure on to other people when you keep choosing to play with random people

Also

  • if you want a "serious team"

  • if you want team that plays like their lives depend on it .

  • If you want to play meta

  • if you want to have a coordinated team that communicates the way a pre made or pro team does.

Again simple solution

stop playing with random people if it s stressing you out

To put it a different way - Why would you keep touching a hot pot handle if you know it hurts when you do?

That is how illogical you are being if you keep join solo que and are surprised if there is a feeder or afk or someone is "bad" , playing off meta or anything else you don't like that is "ruining your experience"

The problem is the Player making the choice to join solo que

You keep grabbing the hot pot handle and blaming the handle for being hot because you think you should not have to use an oven glove ( play with premades instead) and the handle ( solo que players) should conform to your wishes.
