New Form of Chat Filter to STOP Toxicity

THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE AND THE COMMUNITY IF YOU BELIEVE THIS IS A POOR IDEA PLEASE ADD IDEAS IN THE COMMENTS INSTEAD OF A DOWNVOTE, RUDE DECONSTRUCTIVE COMMENT AND A MIDDLE FINGER.

As a fairly toxic person in game and out i have trouble stopping my self from ripping people a new one so when last week i got a 2 week ban and my brother perma banned i started thinking of a way that maybe we could stop toxicity without shutting down accounts forever so i went to the 'drawing board' and came out with this

When someone is toxic riot hands out punishments like chat bans and 2 week bans as warnings but an idea i have is instead of next step being a permanent ban or even just have it as an option for everyone is when you go to curse someone out like you gank top as jungle and ur laner gets greedy tower dives and dies so i and most peoples response would be "what the **** were you thinking" but with this new means of the filter when you hit enter the entire message would be deleted and you get a message like "You're last attempted chat entry contained language not permitted on the summoners rift" and dont worry with it being labeled as taking away freedom of speech chat ban already does it

Last little point i want to bring up just out of confusion is why can we not say anything we want without punishment in a 13+ game? Like i get the report system for like actual trolls but reporting someone in a 13+ game for "being a meenie" has me mind boggled

Anyway please consider or atleast acknowledge this form of chat filter and let me remind everybody commenting this is an OPTION and eventually if toxic with this off a PUNISHMENT, sorry for attempting to help the community

I just want to point out that chat restrictions does affect your Freedom of Speech at all. Freedom of Speech only prevents the government from censoring/punishing you for what you say, and even then it has its limits, but it does not apply whatsoever to private entities like Riot Games.

It is a 13+ game. So you are expected to show SOME semblance of maturity. That means not lashing out at your fellow players like a child throwing a tantrum every time something goes wrong.

AS for the chat filter: it would be too complicated. Especially on a multi-language community. "What the fuck are you doing" would be filtered, but "fuck, I messed up" is totally fine. Also, some words are curse words in one language and perfectly fine in another. For example: I have seen "lul" used instead of "lol", when in dutch a "lul" is another word for penis. How will you filter something like that?

If you cannot stop yourself from lashing out, try unbinding your enter key.

I am the aforementioned brother who's account that had over 1000 hours of gameplay and 400 dollars on it and I am going to have to concur it is a 13+ game are people really that sensitive I mean I understand telling someone to get cancer or kill themselves is very aggressive but I don't think you cans judge every one on the same scale some people have mental illnesses that cause them to react differently to certain situations for example someone with intermittent explosive disorder would react differently to someone doing something stupid then a Normal person aswell I can understand being perma banned for afking a bunch of times or intentionally feeding frequently but talking smack in a video game and answer me this riot how come you un perma banned Jensen (mid laner for c9) and also have never banned meteos as he is one of the most toxic players on the rift and has said somethings that I got perma banned for and he has received no punishment? You are clearly showing us that pro players deserve special treatment and on top of that you unbanned Jensen after he was one of the most toxic players ever and ddosed people on a regular basis and you unbanned him because a pro team wanted him to play for them? That is unfair for the rest of us riot why don't you think on this

I don't get the struggle for control that you and others seem to have in this game. Why do you need a program to catch you before you say something you'll regret? Do you have this problem in the real world, too?

I'm not some sort of zen master bastion of maturity over here, but I find it really easy to simply sit back and not be toxic.

Swearing in and of itself is fine, the problem is the context. "**** I messed up that play" is OK, while "**** you, you suck" isn't

I could get a chat restriction without ever swearing. "You're terrible. Why do you even play this game? Just uninstall now and leave us 4v5, we're better without you." and similar would get me a chat restriction pretty fast.

I guess I look at a 13+ rating a different way than you. I see that rating and think we shouldn't behave like angry children who just learned a new word or phrase to say when we're mad. I expect my teammates to act like adults, focusing on the game and how to win, rather than letting their emotions get the better of them and devolving into a state where they sling insults at one another.

I believe it's your responsibility to monitor your own language. This could work as an intermediate tier to highly unsportsmanlike players and as a sorta grace period after your suspension runs out but i don't believe it's a solution. No need to be sad about helping, its an idea and those are always welcome.

honestly, riot has to admit at some point that plays who play toxic and don't say anything are still being toxic.
