Clearing the air with Riot Games

Hello all summoners. First and foremost, I would like to state that League of Legends is a very fun, interesting, and all around amazing game.

That being said, I'm forever done playing league, and here is why: Riot games has banned my 2 league accounts, within about 2 months of each other. The first of which was my main account, which i spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on throughout 3 years of playing the game. Yes, i was becoming more and more toxic and probably not watching my language enough (Though, i never used racial slurs, or other derogatory terms against gay people or mentally challenged..) so I understand why riot would have banned my account.

My second account, aka smurf, was just banned a few days ago. I have muted all games i Played on it ever since my main was banned over a month ago. Approximately 2 weeks ago it was put on a suspension, and now, today, i find it was banned. below I have posted the Chat that I was supposedly banned for.

To Riot, I completely understand banning peoples accounts if they are bad for the community. But to be completely honest, the last few months of playing your game, I never had very many games where people didn't blow up on each other (even if it wasn't me) and become very toxic, which includes slurs that I NEVER used on either account.

But, one thing riot never did when I received my "14 game suspension" or "permanent ban" pop ups when logging in, was tell me what about my chat got me banned, and why they view some things as badly as the way they do.

I'm glad all of the games I played where I received no reports (which is many more than games that did) meant probably nothing before I was suspended or banned. I also would like to inform you that your community is probably among some of the worst I have ever been apart of. Yes, many players are great to play games with, but so many just ruin so many of them, and apparently I'm a part of that problem.

Any ways, I hope your company can find a solution to these problems better than simply banning people for a bad game or two of Chats. Maybe if players are getting in trouble for chat, give them a permanent chat ban instead of completely destroying their account and all of the time they have spent earning things in your game. I really don't appreciate how you treated the 3 years prior to my bans as though they did not exist. I really do love the game, and sad that I won't ever play it again. Hope other people can see just how messed up this "reformation" system is that you guys are seemingly so proud of.

Im Very interested to see what other people think of how riot handles situations when it comes to banning players from this game.

Punishments escalate through 4 tiers;

  • 10 game chat restriction
  • 25 game chat restriction
  • 14 day account ban
  • Permanent account ban

In these games you were certainly exhibiting negative behavior such as lobbying to mass report players, or unsportsmanlike conduct like repeatedly saying "gg ez" and insulting your teammates. If you already had a 14 day ban, then a permanent ban was up next and was appropriate.

The point of these escalating punishments is to reform players. If one refuses to do so, then the punishments will just get worse to the point of losing their accounts. When this happens, Riot is already saying they don't want the player. They are free to create a new account, but if their behavior does not change they will likely be met with the same results.

I've had my loot disabled for three months and Riot refuses to explain to me how close I am to earning it back. It's fine dude, just go play DotA.

Its not the worst I've seen from other players on a daily basis, but it seems like in the first game you probably got multiple reports for negative behavior. It adds up when your whole team is against you even if youre not wrong.

Beside that, saying "gg ez" and "ez" gets you in deep shit from what I understand. Sorry to hear about your ban, but I think you'll find nicer games with nicer communities now.

Its too late to give advice, but i will throw it out... telling people to report people.. thats how you get reported.

just play the game.. if things dont appear to be going right ... and talking doesnt help.. just stop talking..

and giving your support problems because at the end of the game she is 14/7/12 and you are 10/9/9 ..

You whine almost constantly, multiple gg ez just to show disrespect. Definitely unsportsmanlike. Just sucks it ended up being a permanent ban instead of a minor chat restriction, however your past actions dictate what the punishment is.

Why not permanent mute chat? Toxic chat frequently goes hand in hand with toxic gameplay, and when people found they couldn't flame they would often turn to feeding and trolling to "get back" at teammates. Toxic people tend to be toxic in multiple ways so it's best to just get rid of them entirely.
