Riot should bring back option to report unskilled player.

With the new rating system I have been reported numerous times for a negative attitude when really the team was just mad at me for having a bad game. In the old report system I thought that the option to report someone for unskilled player was a good way to sort the serious reports from the others.

I have mixed feelings on the unskilled report option. I do think you are right, its nice to just draw those reports away from real categories. But, I do think it leads people to look for reasons to report someone.

There really isn't any reason to care about being false reported. reports are validated before any punishment is handed out. So the downside of false reporting is really that even those who are false reporting are going to run into people who genuinely deserve it and their reports wont be worth anything when they need it. It's classic boy who cried wolf.

Intentionally? No, but when the players history shows nothing but "bad games" - there comes a point where it is not tolerable. A high percentage of "toxic players" are toxic solely from players on their team feeding or being unskilled whether it is intentional or not. Now I understand that everyone has a bad game once in a while, but if a player shows the same skill level or lack there of, I believe they should be placed in regs until they either learn to play to where they deserve to play in a competitive scene or create something that gives credentials like ranked but for regs. Having someone in your series to another tier go 0/13/1 in 22 minutes and having them say "I play ranked for fun, I don't care if you think I'm feeding" is asking for toxic behavior, sad thing is the person who is frustrated with that mentality is the one who gets punished.

I agree it used to be a nice placebo report; but at the same time I feel it creates that sentiment that somehow them playing bad is something you should "report" them over. The amount of people that did not only believe that the report actually does something with their MMR, but also believed that it's absolutely fine that they have the power to reduce somebody's MMR was astonishing. So from that angle, maybe it's better to try a different approach.

Unskilled is just as bad as negative behavior, in ranked that is.

If someone is bad enough to feed without purpose, it may just be a bad game. No report deserved, this is still a videogame. If he is consistently horrible then he will eventually drop elo and u won't ever see him again.

Man, reporting someone for unskilled player was nothing more than a punching bag report for me. Id report people for the gigs with reasons like "has very, very small penis" hoping someone from the tribunal would read and laugh. It was a totally unlegit option, available for people like me who just wanted to feel satisfied after a bad game.
