There needs to be a reform for the "Summoner's code". the rules evidently aren't clear anymore and things have evidently changed since I started playing back in season 3. up until last year I had never in my life received any sort of punishment but here we are and I have now received 2 chat restrictions within a few months, yet I haven't changed how I've used chat or typed ever since I started playing. I know I've been reported before but I followed the rules and got no punishment. I don't know when it changed where having one bad game of you responding to a toxic player, rather than multiple games of you doing it, but still having Riot saying it's based on multiple games but REFUSING to pull up any examples of you doing so. I got the chat log of one of the games but no more than one, and I was told it was a punishment based on "games", plural. I asked for more chat logs of any other instances and was told they exist but they couldn't show them. I barely type in my games 90% of the time and it's only really for general things and never anything even remotely sarcastic, rude, toxic, or otherwise. I would be SHOCKED if they could find more than 5 games of me being rude in any way towards someone in the last 3 or 4 years. and even those examples would be me responding to a toxic player who flamed me extensively(yes there is a mute but once I stop responding it extends past typing and starts to include them stealing my buffs, cs, kills, baiting me, afking, and or inting). now beyond this one the two instances the chat log didn't show anything that made sense for why I was reported. nothing in the summoners code said anything like it was re-portable and everyone I had asked seemed confused as to why I was punished. a friend of mine has gotten similar issues. trying to go through Riot support is iffy and can either be a chill person who, while a cool person, doesn't really seem to have any ability to help and no way of really "supporting" at all, or some even MORE toxic person being rude and unprofessional about your ticket and seemingly doesn't read it as if they are annoyed you even sent in the ticket and made them do work(god forbid). this really defeats the purpose of a support system at all. overall there needs to be a fix to not only summoners code to make it more clear what the rules are and what can get you punished and what degree does something get you instant punishment, and there need to be a new system for sending in support tickets to actually receive help rather than "dang, sucks man" and then being told they can't do anything about it. honestly what can they do? nothing against the player support people, but it seems like Riot games give them little to no authority to do anything or even allowing them to appeal tickets higher to someone who CAN do something. please fix this if possible, I really do love Riot Games and League of Legends and have defended alot of actions but things are starting to get a bit out of hand I don't want to see something I enjoy so much, and have spent so many good years and dollars on, go downhill so much. ) :

I think it certainly could do with a rewrite, though. Certain parts of the Summoner's Code are treated more as guidelines while other parts are actual rules you must follow, and there's no indication in the Code itself which is which. Many parts are also ambiguously worded, and many aspects of the rules themselves that are common knowledge to regulars of this board are mentioned nowhere in the Summoner's Code.

and I think that needs to be made more clear. I should know roughly to what degree I can be punished and for what. it can't be "toxicity over multiple games" when I know I've seen it happen over one. and if they say it can be over one for "extreme cases", then they NEED to be clear on what makes it an extreme case over another.

the way they are implemented must have been changed, even if the written rules haven't. things that would never get someone punished before have now gotten several people I know punished in recent months, for rather unclear reasons.

And you know they did not get punished before how?

The reasons are quite clear. The Summoner’s Code and Terms of Use have been made more clear in recent years.

by doing actions the same action over and over for years and receiving no punishment then suddenly we all get some form of punishment for the same thing relatively that we have all been doing since back in season 3 and never even got so much as a warning, as well as me and a couple others never having done anything in chat other than general conversation or chat about the game suddenly getting punished for a single game of "misconduct" that never got friends of mine punished before.

as for being "clear", the Summoner's Code isn't that clear. it's clear in some areas and is almost disregarded by riot in certain instances. example being that it gives every indication that you receive punishment for consistent misconduct, and having it occur over multiple games. even when receiving the pop up that shows the games you were punished for it uses "games" plural and is shown in a way that implies several times that it takes multiple games. asking Riot support lead to "it can be over one game in extreme examples" but what defines an extreme example? that's not made clear at all in the summoner's code, but really should be.

So you are trying to claim that in 6 years absolutely nothing has changed about you? You behave exactly the same? Hell, I doubt anyone even remembers exactly how they behaved 6 years ago, much less in something as insignificant as a video game.

The Summoner's Code and Terms of use do not actually specify a number of games. In fact, when they do, they say it is not ever acceptable. You are lucky Riot gives you the benefit of the doubt if you have a bad game or two, given that if you violated the Summoner's Code, even in one game, you could be punished.

I mean I've been the same throughout the years in terms of how I am in game at least. since I started playing, I BARELY ever type in chat except to give puns or other dumb jokes about a cheesy champ I use or just general convos. OCCASIONALLY, like once in a year or so, I've snapped back at toxic players. more often than not, in defense of another player. never in 6 years have I received so much as a warning. I watch people call out scores, ranks, and god knows what and receive no punishment, yet someone calls out mine, and I respond back with theirs for the first time ever and receive a punishment INSTANTLY. so many people do it every single game almost and may get a punishment after 20 games or so, but still, that's a big gap.

as for the summoner's code giving a specific number of games, I've had riot support members quote it to me before and while not giving a specific number it did imply multiple and use plural words. the pop up in game that informs you say "Games" and implies multiple, and when brought up to Riot support they agreed it is normally multiple games except in extreme cases. So no, it's not "lucky" if Riot gives you the benefit of the doubt, the support team acknowledges they are supposed to except in extremes. like I get slurs, threats, or other horribly offensive things being considered extreme and causing an instant ban, but calling someone "entitled and childish" for flaming you for 45 minutes shouldn't be considered extreme on that level. to add insult to injury why does them flaming you constantly for 45 minutes = the same punishment as you calling them out for being toxic? how do both of those = chat restriction? if you think the summoner's code is clear, fine, good for you. For many people though it's not clear on many different issues. it's clear on some, not on others. you thinking it's clear doesn't mean it doesn't need reform. currently it is not clear even among player support considering you will get different answers, responses, and reasons for the EXACT SAME TICKET. if there is that much confusion among the people who are supposed to be helping you, then there needs to be a change somewhere.

agreed, which I do see that as no necessarily a problem in of itself, but when you have a huge team different people reviewing reports with completely different opinions then to remove individual bias they need to make the code cut and dry and clear for anyone involved, from staff to players.
