This community is honestly pathetic.

Why is the solution to flaming to report someone? It doesn't make sense that Riot added a mute button but players aren't even encouraged to use it. Instead of not being a sensitive child, I am going to report everyone who criticizes me and hope they get banned. Why is perma-banning even a thing? Someone called me a bad word in chat and instead of muting them Riot will just delete the thousands of hours they spent playing their shitty game. I look at these boards and even people who were unfairly banned are just told to suck it up and do better next time. If you truly want someone who called you a name on an online game to have their money, time and effort wasted, you are just as toxic as the people you report.

Players are encouraged to use both the mute feature and the report feature. They're both tools for dealing with toxicity; muting being relatively effective per-match, while the report feature is more effective in the long run.

And reporting is the solution to flaming because everyone agreed to the same rules, and flaming is against those rules. So, since reporting tells Riot that someone broke the rules they agreed to, reporting serves as the most viable solution to flaming.

Instead of not being a sensitive child, I am going to report everyone who criticizes me and hope they get banned.

Implying that you have to be sensitive to resort to reporting.

And also implying that being toxic and flaming is devoid of any sensitivity whatsoever.

Why is perma-banning even a thing?

Because Riot needs some kind of ultimate punishment to resort to if someone absolutely refuses to play by the rules. They're not just going to keep giving small punishments for small offenses over and over and over ad infinitum - toxic players need to learn to either shape up or ship out, and Riot isn't going to let them keep ignoring the rules forever.

Someone called me a bad word in chat and instead of muting them Riot will just delete the thousands of hours they spent playing their shitty game.

I made one mistake and someone completely flew off the handle and completely abandoned the game in favor of spouting vitriol and toxicity.

See how easy it is to make anything sound frivolous if you distill it into the most basic, uninformative shorthand?

Riot permabans players not for "calling someone a bad word", but for continuous misbehavior and decided ignorance of the rules that they agreed to. Ignoring the most toxic and belligerent players, it takes quite a while to build up to a permanent suspension, and after so many games of continued misbehavior, that ultimate punishment is certainly warranted.

I look at these boards and even people who were unfairly banned are just told to suck it up and do better next time.

If the ban was truly unfair, we'd direct them to Player Support to appeal it.

If you truly want someone who called you a name on an online game to have their money, time and effort wasted, you are just as toxic as the people you report.

I want them to stop being a dick. If that means that they eventually run themselves into the ground and have all their time, money, and effort wasted, then that's on them. They had every opportunity to simply not be toxic.

Toxicity is 0 tolerance policy treat your fellow players with respect.

Calling us the community pathetic only solidifies your own toxic attitude.

You're not going to turn any opinions by making a petty poll that only has options that agree with you.

DalekZec5/31/2019, 9:13:56 PM3 votes

Technically, you're supposed to mute and then report after the match.

And perma-banning is a thing not solely due to flaming. But can also be due to inting or trolling.

And it's Riot's game which means it's their rules. Make your own game and make your own rules.

Now go ahead and report me. Nothing will happen anyway. Unless someone goes on insulting you or elo shames you, then the report can work. But I did none of those. So...yeah.

Can I choose not to vote?

hrooza dota 6/1/2019, 1:16:38 AM2 votes

why are we forced to choose between mute or report? if i ever mute somebody i most likely will report them because i dont want him/her/it in my or any player games.

also who is sensitive? the guy who report or the guy who flame because others dont play the way he wants or to the level he expect from them?

In summary for all confused, the only time someone should be permabanned should have nothing to do with chat. I just wish the rules would change.

Its to deter people from being toxic. Muting only prevents further toxicity. Usually people wantto communicate in team games, so its not reasonable to just expect people to mute before any toxicity happens.

Why add a report for intentional feeding? Just leave the game and go on another account xD

Oh wait...that doesn't fix the problem...

I believe there is a difference between toxic and just a little tilted. We have all been tilted, no one can deny that. Going into chat and saying "Nice feed mid" shouldn't be ban worthy. Telling them to hang themselves with the belt their daddy beat them with, now that is toxic. Also if you are just going on and on, if that "Nice feed mid" comment turns into 20 minutes of "jesus do you even play?, You are terrible, go uninstall", well that is also toxic, not just tilted. Tilted are the people who might just be having some bad games on top of maybe a bad day, toxic is someone going out of there way to make your specific experience terrible and hoping they get reactions out of you.
