What is wrong with match making in low elo?

Heya fellow players,

I usually don't even do this in most mmo games and write topics with my concerns about the gameplay or other players, however this is a one off exception I guess... I've joined League of Legends last May I believe and was enjoying my games, enjoying the game itself. I eventually reached level 30 and started playing ranked, and was put in Silver V once I've played the 10 matches required. And so the ranked games have began, everything was okay - had my ups and downs and stayed in Silver for a while. And then... Around a week ago, something really wrong has started to happen. I was constantly matched with unranked and low ranked players (keep in mind my mmr was tiny bit below average of my rank). This would be okay as I can carry and I manage to win my lane phase most of the time (and I mean it, no exaggeration here). However, when people constantly leave the game early or start to troll because they have died a few times, and leave you short-handed to play the game against a team of five, it becomes more difficult and gets you as a player frustrated. And that's what happened to me. I was eventually demoted to B1, and now even B2. While in bronze, I am always able to win my lane (I am not kidding you) as it seems far too easy for me as Ekko main. Not only this, but I'm also the one who tries to lead the team and help other teammates get kills and objectives in their lanes, etc. I've carried way too many games while in B1/B2 and only resulted in a loss. I understand this makes no sense, however my KDA is 5/1 on Ekko and the game history of me playing Ekko would prove me right.

I rarely get frustrated with games, but I find this match making system very unfair. I've asked my teammates in a few games in what rank they are and I get told I'm playing with b3-b5 or unranked players, which to me as a player is far too easy, however I don't play champions that could simply take on 3-5 players on my back. Bronze is the worst I've ever seen in any game (player behaviour wise) - constant flaming, griefing and giving up, trolling (don't even know how to put it in the right words...) and people who constantly leave the game. Has anyone else been in this situation and how do you feel about the match making and such behaviour of fellow players in our community?

If you think that those problems are exclusive to Bronze, I have some very disappointing news for you.

welcome to leagues, and its not just bronze, all ranks have their issues though unranked to silver is the most toxic, while gold to challenger is the most shall we say stressful.

You are getting placed where you deserve to be based on skill level, no offense but given how far you have dropped it is likely that S5 was an overestimate of your ability. If you can't consistently translate winning lane into meaningful advantages for your team then it doesn't matter if you are up 5 kills and 30cs. For example, you recently had an ekko game where you went 17/9/20 and got a lot of early kills however you gave up first turret and didn't get a single neutral objective all game. You need to learn how to snowball lane leads into team leads.

ill toss in a second comment here, I was also placed silver 5 in season 4, however this was not due to my skill it was due to an error or something making me the only active player in the entire match out of all 10 people. I didn't drop from s5 but I also generally don't play ranked at all because I dislike being judged by what ranking I may have, and not how I contribute to my team in a given match
