Does anybody know if the suspensions disappear after a certain period of time, or do they remain permanent on your record?

There will always be a record per-se, as in a Riot staff member can always see your past punishments.

However, it can all but drop off in terms of affecting your future - if you go a long time (and large number of games) with commendable behavior, it's possible that your next punishment would not be as severe. However, this takes a long time and a large number of games, and a concerted effort to not have the same behavior again.

it sounds like it takes around 3 months to drop a punishment tier. so you are on tier 3 in around 9 months you will be back to a clean slate. if you dont get punished again

This is dangerously untrue. It's both a combination of time (and there is no set time) and games played without negative behavior (again, no set number). If you consistently play a moderate number of games at a regular pace without negative behavior, you will eventually drop down. However, if you don't play many games, or if you play a lot, take a break, play a lot, etc. then you won't drop down as fast.

That comes directly from Riot staff's posts on these boards. There is no set time, there is no set number of games, it's based on patterns. Feeding misinformation to OP is really rude and irresponsible of you.

He is right. You have to consistently show improved behaviour.

With the information available to us we have gathered this:

If you play an average amount of time each day, and show show good behaviour in each one it will take about three months to descent the ladder. You can't just stop playing for 9 months and then come back expecting a clean slate.

However this has not been officially confirmed and is based on anecdotal evidence from a bunch of unreliable sources. But it is the best estimate we can give.

You were partly right with your first statement, he was completely right with his statement.

lol how can you say someone is right when nothing has been officially confirmed? he is guessing and i am guessing. either of us could be right. both of us could be wrong.

around 3 months is what i have heard from other players who have started getting hextech again.

Which is yet another misconception: Getting hextech rewards again does not mean that your punishment level dropped. Even though they both indicate an improvement in a player's pattern of behaviour, they're seperate systems.

They definately will always exist on your record. However, you can recover your account to "good standing" by playing a bunch of games without doing anything reportable. Basically, become a good player and you will eventually be forgiven (but not forgotten).
