For years I had this friend who always talked trash in games and we'd always duo. I'd constantly tell him to "Lay off them dude" then I get his whole spheel. Well about 8 months ago I decided that whenever he was toxic i'd secretly report him. He now has 3 banned accounts and some are perma muted.
Anyone else ever done this?
I absolutely will report someone I know for being a super dick. I reported a good friend's brother for running down mid.
I think it may be time to find a new friend if they are consistently toxic like that. Yeah I have reported a "friend" once... But after that one time, I am no longer friends with them.
I have and will continue to report ANYONE who is toxic in game... This include friends and family.

Personally, I would have reported and/or asked my friend to stop !! Then report again if they didn't make an effort to be FAIR then I'd unfriended them.
Not sure if your silent reports is good/bad...at least it got someone Toxic off for awhile, so Yes I would report my roommate if she acted that way..100%
FRIENDS real ones don't put you in that situation, so I don't feel bad for anyone I hit report on in-game!

I don't care if you're my friend or not, but if you're acting like an asshat and are breaking rules? I don't know you. And that also means I'm shooting that report button.

Certainly. They being friends, whether it's just some premade, someone I know a bit better (the classic A/S/L introduction), or an IRL friend, does not give them an excuse to not follow the game's rules and get away with it.
Trolls, flamers, feeders, refusing to speak english in main chat, saying "GG EZ" after the game...all reportable offenses in my book, regardless of being friends or not.
Yes if someone is toxic, or an idiot I delete them off my list and report I don't care, but usually its pre-made 5's so its not much of an issue.

Or you could just tell them that they're going to get banned if they dont stop, and not get them banned yourself because that's not very friendly aint it. EDIT: By "get them banned yourself" I dont mean that it's your fault if you report your friend and he gets banned because he really was being toxic, but yknow what I mean, by reporting them too you just make their chances of getting banned even higher.

I've reported semi-friends before. (I only have a few close friends that I play with and usually I just deal with any poor behavior from them verbally.)
Realistically, just because they're your friend (or acquaintance in my case) doesn't mean that they get off being an asshole. Report away.
As a side note, I've actually accidentally reported a friend before by clicking on the wrong ! mark and then not double checking. That was embarrassing as hell. o.o
Depends on what you define as a friend. If it's someone I personally know........Hell no that's called blackmailing. If it's someone I don't know but a person who just randomly added me after a game. I'd report them then unfriend them.

if friends are toxic in game or we are in skype and i can communicate with them i tell them, and if they take it poorly then i just tell them they need to stop and if they don't i unfriend them and don't talk to them again, no need to report them, just know they lost a good friend over a video game and wanting to continue to be toxic for whatever reason
If they are excessively toxic in game then yes, some people are fine irl but when they're obnoxious like that in my games it's not really fair to me to have to put up with it.
Yeah I've done it before, and honestly I feel bad. Used to play with him a bunch and he's just so toxic to play with that it's hard to want to now. Whenever I played with him he would rage so hard at everyone else and there would really be no point for it. Friend or not, if you're acting like a dick, you're getting reported.
