Opinion: Dev request -- Leaverbuster isn't as smart as it should be

Honorable player here, if I get DC'd from a game I try my best to get back in. I never leave on purpose and if I've ever been hit by leaverbuster it's because of ISP DC issues. Nothing I can do when my internet goes out other than call them and complain. Recently my internet went out, I got disconnected from my game. I didn't close the client or quit the game. I waited to see if my internet came back up. By this time the main client had already timed out and asked me to log back in, so I did. However the game was still open and stuck trying to reconnect. I did the only thing I could and closed the game and reopened it. I got back into the game and wouldn't you know it my team held down the fort. But on the recap screen I got hit with an LP penalty. I didn't much expect loot because I was out of the game for 10 or 15 minutes but I didn't expect an LP loss either. 0 LP would be acceptable. Just call it a draw and move on. Instead leaverbuster set me back in LP rather than doing what it's supposed to do. It punished a player who was trying to return to a game after uncontrollable circumstances.

I know the ranked system is in redesign right now and about time! What can Riot Games do to make these kinds of situations less punishable for players who really are trying to do the right thing?

The problem is that there's no way to tell why you disconnected. All Riot knows is that you've dropped. There isn't a way to tell WHY a connection was dropped because you aren't sending them any data!
