Chat banned for joking with a friend

I am sick and tired of the league community at the moment. I just got chat restricted 10 games... For talking crap to my duo queue buddy who laughed it off. He didn't even report me, other people did. When did people turn this game into a giant wimp fest? Why would it be anyone's business but our own if we flame each other jokingly? Sorry, but I fail to see how I'm a menace to society as I type "git rekt noob" to the guy sitting 5 feet away from me, while the trolls and flamers and legitimately game ruining people continue to run rampant. Fix your system Riot. Your turning your community into a toxic cesspool where you can't go a single game without everyone reporting one another.

It wasn't your duo buddy that you were trash talking. The system is working as intended. The people you were constantly harassing, who weren't laughing it off, reported you.

. . . i fail to miss the point? The "morality police" i.e. the community don't want to listen to you and some other kid bitching at each other. That's why you were reported. Recognize that other people are playing the game, or just do a duo queue and play custom games if you don't want other people's opinions in game.

failing to miss the point would mean that the person has gotten the point. Don't do no double negatives.
If it looks like I'm stealing something, I shouldn't be surprised that people think I'm stealing. If it looks like you're trash talking someone, you should expect people to assume you're trash talking someone.
Regardless of who you were talking to, some people in your game decided what you had said was unacceptable. It is their right to think so, and their right to report it. You should take this as a message that "while I think this is ok, it bothers people and I should stop out of respect for other humans"
It's not like it takes only 1 infraction to receive punishment. If you reached the point where disciplinary measures had to be taken, that means you've been getting reported in MANY other games.

Being toxic, even in a joking manner, to someone can cause the rest of your team to tilt if there is any misunderstanding that you are joking and/or know the person. Many times I've reported people for trash talking another person on my team even though nothing was said to me. It throws everyone off. If he's your friend and you want to trash talk to him /r HisName while in game will send a message directly to him so no one has to worry about it. That's what I've always done while in duo and I've never had an issue. More often then not if my friend is 5 feet away from me I'll just say what I need to instead of taking the time to type out so everyone can see it.

Merely the way you are representing yourself here leads me to believe that you are actually just trash talking all game. Hard to defend your point when somebody who has access to all of your previous chats and records just shut you the hell up. If somebody is playing with you - and you have nothing but trolly hateful things to say to them (joking or not) get a chat service. Do it there. My friends and I do the same stuff, but you know what we dont do? We don't make everybody else read us name calling and being rude and obscene in the IN GAME chat that is made for GAME RELATED comments. Get curse, ventrillo, skype, team speak, whatever. and do your trash talking there. Nobody else gets enjoyment out of reading your all's "so called" jokes to eachother. It's both annoying and toxic to play around.

You made it their business when you said it in front of them.

For example, if you and your buddy are in a restaurant, and are yelling at/insulting each other, what you are doing is absolutely the business of the other diners - for exactly as long and to exactly the extent to which it is disruptive of their experience. Similarly, what you say into team or all chat is absolutely the business of the other people in your team or game (respectively) - for exactly as long as you're sharing the game.

If you want to insult your buddy, feel free to say it out loud. Or use a voice program. Or even use a private message to him through the client (they aren't checked by the system, because they aren't part of the game chat). To put that another way, if you want them to stay out of your business, it would be in your best interest to not shove your business in their face.

Welcome to riots policy on ban first, ask questions later. I almost got banned for doing something similar with a friend of mine who was playing bad. She knew I was joking and the entire team did as well tho. :s It got to the point where the entire team was joking back and forth with each other, which improved our play style due to us not focusing on our mistakes but focusing on the joys of the game.

i mean i agree that jokingly flaming your friends is fine (we do it all the time too, no hurt feelings, nobody takes it seriously) but i'm sure you can understand why you were reported. unless you make it clear that you're friends joking around you just look like an asshole

So a few points to address: firstly, I get it. I made a mistake with the "fail to miss the point". Egg on my face. It was early in the morning, ok? Secondly, as for the rioter response; BS. I don't randomly call people Salvadorian pricks. I looked at my reform card. One game was trash talk back and forth between me and the enemy team; if saying "mad cuz bad" sarcastically and telling twitch to stop crying in all is really soooooooo terrible, your priorities are out of sorts. I frequently use my friends name- which, of the three games on my reform card, only one was with him in the room, and it was the one I talked to him the least in. As for skype, he refuses to buy a mic- and call him a Salvadorian prick (ooooooh how sinister), and this shows that we know each other. He doesn't give a damn, so why should anyone else? And one game I was ABSOLUTELY toxic in; i deserve to be punished for that one, as I will begrudgingly admit that I agreed to the Summoner's Code or whatever. However, one game of me demanding someone stop being a twat and afking in base is actually my exact point in this. I'm being punished for doing something that is currently happening in this very thread; trash talk. Its harmless. Im not butthurt because people pointed out flaws in my english, or put smite icons in response to a rioter calling me out. But where is the system here? What if I were one of the people who reported me? This forum is toxic in response to me questioning my own toxicity. People literally frequent this forum just to call people out. The system is twisted, and backwards, and is a good representation that Riot is creating a breed of pussies who will instantly jump to the report button in game and then turn into self-righteous jackasses the second they are elsewhere. OR you're creating a breed of people that think it's alright to use the in game chat to be a grade A troll. Talk about the game, or shut your trap. I don't care if you're telling rated G jokes all game. If you're spamming the chat i'm using to log people's Flash timers, ult timers, etc. then you're fucking me over.
especially if you're fucking my timers by calling somebody a Prick. because then it's annoying, childish, and needs to quit.
