First time chat restriction made me worse

Quinn and Tonic··1 votes·1,380 views

I am nice. I like to communicate with my team since my strength is game knowledge more than 1 vs 9 mechanics.

Now normally I just immediately ignore blatent toxicity. In a recent game it was over from the start when an enemy champ ran mid to die over and over without saying anything. We all agree it was awful and we would report... Except one guy who started flaming our team. Said a host of negative things... I would be amazed if either of them were not already banned.

Now I normally ignore those people but was so baffled by the toxic behavior when it was his OWN teammate trolling... I engaged to see why. Ended up saying three swear words, tame, but swore. Okay so I get it, chat restriction.

But here starts the mixed feelings on it... Was it the trolls who reported me? Someone who gets 9 reports in a game should have zero ability to report anyone else. Or did others in the game report me?

As for the 10 game restriction? I actually turned into a worse player, was pissed I couldn't type simple things like dragon, enemy jungle top, mid roaming... I took. A break from ranked and just played normals to run through the restriction. All in all my experience with a chat restriction in no way is "improving" my behavior.

It makes me want to quit the game, not help other players, not type at all, and just become a guy who rages at teammates when they don't read my mind and pings. As someone else mentioned it makes you afraid to chat at all. That is not the answer IMO.

this seems like a "you" problem as opposed to a problem with the system

let me ask you this, when your 10 game restriction is up, will you swear at your teammates again?

Let's be very very clear... The only people I have ever called an ass are those that are blatently toxic. I don't initiate anything, don't flame for poor play, and in 60 or so ranked games this season can can only recall a few where someone exhibited extreme disrespect which brought on a response by me. I posted the chat log below and it was the worst/most you would ever see from me.

I typed a lot this game because it was a 5v4 and over, which I'm sure has some factor in a restriction.

The problem I see which I hadn't before is it promotes less communication. When people see something negative they should speak up. See something - say something. Perhaps lol isn't a place where life lessons should be exhibited, but I don't know if I agree with that. It goes to a systemic issue with the internet and despicable behavior being "accepted" in a way.

but you didnt answer my question

The question being will I swear at a player again? Quite possibly. If I say no you then say the system works, right?

Which is really the question at hand here. Is league a place where abbhorent behavior should simply be ignored and reported in hopes that the system works?

My motives for change encompass more than just this game. Toxic behavior isn't a league issue it's an internet issue... Riots main motivation is to remove those people from the their game specifically.

So again, if someone joins a game and immediately does everything awful you can imagine, what is the best response as another human?

Are we all pacifist monks or if someone kicks are dog should we punch them?

good luck with that

Considering I have been playing online games since their inception without ever receiving any warning, ban, suspension, or restriction in any game previously I'm good. I think you should remove me from this discussion and actually think about the affects of the system.

10 CR is the first and mildest form of punishment. You DO NOT get this level of punishment based on one game (or 3 for that matters). You receive this 10 CR based on being consistently mildly toxic in many games. It is difficult to further discuss your 10 CR without seeing chatlogs for ALL games shown on your report card (not just this one game) as well as not editing or commentate any of them.

There was only one game shown on the in game notification.

Posted elsewhere and has a few of my comments:

Game 1 Pre-Game

me: mr (They had all MR champs)

In-Game

me: singed jungle... okay

me: track bot river please

me: welp gg (This is when we saw Singed running up mid and die)

me: trolls

me: play it out just in case

me: ty (Our support dropped a ward for me)

me: just play safe (Our bot lane was actually getting wrecked)

me: yes you'll get 9 reports i hope (The Diana said something negative, at first I though it was directed to the Singed)

me: fyi singed you're a complete piece of shit (Strike one vs me? Ya the guy auto-fed all game he is 100% a piece of shit. I could've just kept quite)

me: wait diana are you mad at us? :)

me: wow

me: yes I'm sorry (Had to actually reiterate to Diana I was indeed sorry... I had lopsided LOL games and despise toxic players)

me: no i'm not giving you a win

me: it happens, it sucks, report them and move on

me: fyi typically just open mid

me: i mean you'll get a report too if you like (Diana continued on and on)

me: absolutely zero reason to be raging right now

me: zero things my team is doing is trolling

me: your signed straight up trolled you all

me: normally I wouldn't respond but the game is over... so diana you do realize how big of a problem your attitude is right?

me: So we are reporting singed and diana... replace singed and you still have a complete dick on your team ** ("complete dick" strike 2?)**

me: of course still not sure why this isn't just opened mid Post-Game

me: my only question is if diana was that much of an asshole in champ select **("Asshole" so that's strike 3?)

me: and that's why singed trolled
