Are Trolls More Common This Season?

Curious if it's just me.

I noticed a lot of trolls when I was leveling my smurf account. No surprise there. There, it's mostly other smurfs, and a lot of people that smurf do so because they were banned on their mains.

But that's not what this is about.

This is about the fact that I seem to get a troll every other game on my main account. Just today, out of only a handful of matches, I dealt with two different games where players refused to agree on roles -- and so either afk'd, or left a lane completely empty. I dealt with one player that insisted we "ff" at less than two minutes in, and proceeded to run down mid. Many more afks and rage quits yesterday. A couple days before that, a player that insisted we "had" to lose, fed intentionally, and constantly updated the enemy on our whereabouts via all chat.

It used to be I'd get one troll in every dozen matches or so. Now it seems it's about 50/50, and it's killing the fun for me.

Is it just me, or is this season especially bad for it? And if so, why the heck is that?

You can't talk trash now cause the hextech patch chat rules made things stricter, so more people are turning to ruining games subtly when they get mad.

Depends on how you define "troll", but yes overall I've seen a spike in what most people would label "toxic".
