Unjustly punished by groupee's

About 5 minutes ago I finished a game in which the other 4 people on my team, were all playing as a group, and were all toxic. They repeatedly slandered me, and lied to the enemy team, telling them that I was the one being toxic, all the while being extremely rude to me. They all reported me and basically told me, "ha!, you're screwed, you have 4 reports enjoy the punishment!". Needless to say, I am now banned for 14 days. Now I wouldn't even think as going to say I was perfect that game, but everything I said was purely reactionary, as they blamed me (as the jungler) for every mistake that they made. I cannot even fathom how disgusting behavior like this is. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? What is your take on this? Is the new system too harsh towards so called "verbal abuse", while being lenient towards behavior that warrants it?

A 4 man pre-made simply reporting you will not wind up in a punishment unless you were displaying negative behavior in your game. While you may have also experienced some negative feedback from your team members, it only matters what you do when it comes to your punishments. If you run into negative behavior from other players it is best to mute them or ignore them and report their actions at the end of the game. That way they are the only ones who will have to face consequences for their behavior. The moment you start fire back at them or begin to target another player you begin to validate reports made against your account.

For one thing, it's been pretty well established that retaliation is never okay in League. So regardless of the circumstances, if you fell into their trap and reacted negatively, that can be punished.

And remember, the punishments doled out aren't for a single game. That game may have been the one that triggered the punishment, but there will have been many more games where you were reported prior to this as well. This is why you might feel like those 4 "got away with it" and you were the one to take the fall, but in reality, if you reported all 4 of them (you did, right?), it'll just be a matter of time before the system catches them as well.

Also, contrary to what many premades believe, getting 4 reports against you for a game doesn't necessarily mean more than a single report for a given game. So it's not like premades can run around getting players falsely banned until the system catches them.

If you'd like to, you can post the chat logs you received, and people here can help point you toward how to best correct your behavior so you can hopefully avoid a permaban in the future.

Thing is, the system doesn't count how many reports were in an individual game precisely because of situations like the one you described. It looks at how many games you've at at least one report. Then it looks at the validity of those reports.

It's never a bad idea to take a short break if you have a rough game. Grab a snack, take a walk, do something to clear your head and distance yourself from a bad game.

Try watching for good plays from your teammates instead of mistakes. Your own attitude going in will heavily influence your perception of how the game is going. If you go in expecting trolls and intentional feeders, that's what you're going to see, even if the player is just getting outplayed. If you go in, focus on playing your best, and watch for situations where you can say "Good Job" or "Nice Play", I can pretty much guarrantee the mistakes won't seem like as big a deal. I think you'll also find your teammates will be far more willing to work with you than around you.

Do you listen to music when you play? If so, your playlist can affect your mood. Instead of Angry-at-the-world-want-to-kill-everyone music, try something with a more positive outlook. Or skip the lyrics and listen to instramentals. You want to get pumped up to play, not primed to get angry at every little mistake.

If you're someone who tends to react to what other people do and say, you might think about muting everyone at game start. It's extreme, but since you're at the 14-day level, sometimes you need extreme to fix things. I've even hear some people take the route of unbinding or even popping off their Enter key so they can't say anything. But again, that's at the extreme end of avoiding further bans.

My take is: Don't take it, but don't respond. Mute them all, finish your game (win or lose), report them and move on. Simple as that. If you hadn't responded, you likely wouldn't be suspended. For some it isn't human nature as people like to react. But remember, you're only being attacked my words on a computer screen, from people you'll probably never play with again. Just don't let it get to you.
