Griefing is some of the worst kind of behavior yet the least punished since the Tribunal went away

Griefing is probably the hardest behavior to punish players for but also, it is probably the single largest reason winning games are lost. This is not the only issue. Many people that were playing the game since season one will say the earlier seasons like season 3 and earlier were the best. Some may think it is due to the state of the game at the time but I would argue that it is due to the low amount of players trolling and not getting punished. Nothing is more triggering than getting griefed mainly because everyone knows that as long as they aren't "obviously" inting or being verbally abusive in chat they will not be punished. I put quotation marks around obviously because of my next point.

Inting changes from bronze to diamond. A bronze player split pushing on an adc while behind against say, a fed Twitch, and dying multiple times is probably just him having no idea what he is doing. A platinum player doing the same is inting. As your skill level increases, there are basics you come to understand. If you are 0/8 on Tristana and LB is 10/1, and you have no vision, there is a 95% chance you are going to die. The Lucian scenario just happened in my previous game and he went 0/11/3 after saying gg when he died level 2. Previous to that, I had a Maokai build titanic hydra and never group and easily lose the game due to it being 4v5 almost the entire time. A bronze player may, for some reason, think this is a fine build. However, a platinum player should never think that. None of Maokai's skills scale will AD and AD for tower taking is pointless after the patch that made towers take damage based on your AP. Two of my last 7 games are where this happened. These are just the ones that stood out to me the most. The 1/10 Fiora had a bad game, she wasn't really griefing. Pretty unacceptable scoreline but I wouldn't call her play griefing.

We need a system to punish these people. The current system does absolutely nothing while people just get enraged by this kind of behavior. High level gameplay is plagued by this shit. It is completely unreal how often someone just gives up and doesn't even try (basically Hashinshin's entire playstyle when behind) in high elo. I say this as someone that was silver/gold 5 every season since season 3 until now. I have an alt that I play toplane on and while there are various things wrong in that elo, giving up and doing obviously stupid shit does not occur nearly as often. As far as I can remember, Hashinshin has not been punished for his play until recently. This is completely unacceptable. Literally every single diamond player (including him if he were being honest) can tell you that Hashinshin overextends without vision when he is behind so fucking often which leads to his deaths. Watch 10 diamond games and you will see someone griefing or win trading in at least two of them.

The Tribunal was not infallible but it did work well. All it needs is some people brain storming better ideas like spot checks by Riot, incentives to actually pass judgement in a fair manner, harsh punishment for people that troll when allowed to participate in the Tribunal (hopefully after a conversation with a Riot member kind of like how WoW once had GMs talk to you about shit when you got reported), and other intelligent design decisions. The Tribunal has the potential to be a great system especially with all the additions of things like chromas/hextech crafting since it was once available. This combined with the system already in place to fight verbal toxicity would be extremely powerful in reducing negative behavior (and even preventing verbal abuse as a result of being griefed). The only down side of the Tribunal is entrusting punishments to a bunch of random people but with effective spot checking/deterrents to this kind of behavior, this down side can be all but eliminated.

We, as the players, are absolutely helpless against this kind of behavior. When in game, it is obvious when someone is saying gg and splitting until they die that they are griefing. This could be obvious to everyone else that sees chat and watches the game especially if they are as knowledgeable of the game as the people in the game. A polished version of tribunal needs to come back because the current system doesn't do nearly enough. I am beyond tired of trying hard every game just to have someone troll because they are smurfing or give up just because they are individually not doing well. Literally nothing in this game is as infuriating as griefers mostly because they are never punished until it becomes extremely obvious (i.e. Hashinshin essentially inting 0/19). I myself don't even waste time reporting it. Pretty confident that the vast majority of the playerbase would prefer something rather than nothing to deal with this issue. Give us something because something is better than nothing. This kind of behavior leads to other players not caring. Why care about your games if a bunch of other people are not caring about them? It is just a circle which only breaks by people being punished or just not playing/not playing nearly as much. This ever prominent behavior needs to be dealt with.

*TLDR griefing one of the absolute worst negative behaviors and encourages other negative behavior while it itself is extremely hard to be punished for but absolutely makes for a terrible game environment. An enhanced version of the Tribunal could be utilized to combat this because it was likely the reason for this behavior to not be as prominent in early seasons (which is why many players enjoyed earlier seasons more).

you realise the tribunal was chat based, right? we couldn't see the actual games

what we had was the chatlogs + the information available to us via op.gg. that's it. nobody can judge wether inting happened or not based on just that

I myself don't even waste time reporting it.

then you shouldn't complain that it isn't punished if you can't be bothered to do the minimum requirement for it to be investigated in the first place.

"i don't waste time reporting it. why you no punish it???"

talk about entitlement...

What are you talking about? Tribunal wasn't good or better than what we currently have. Tribunal was full of mistakes, trollers giving a pass, and was full of ways of getting by. Tribunal was only player base. Your entitled opinion was by far the worst argument for the tribunal case.

Do some research before you make posts like this, man, because this was cringing to read.

Unless he has little to no AP.
