Are there bots in ranked? Seems like I just had two in my game....

Has anyone run into bots in ranked 5s?

Just had a match with two complete trolls on my team (see the wukong and volibear botlane duo in the link), according to op.gg, their accounts were level 5 and level 11, no apparent match history together but one had a series of bot games, usually not even selecting a keystone mastery in those games. They gave first blood early on and continued to feed in a suicidal manner all game, didn't communicate. Both accounts have very few regular wins and less than 5 ranked games period. If they aren't bots, maybe they were bought.

The weird thing was op.gg shows it one way as mentioned above while in game, they show up as level 30s with zero ranked wins. This was all in a promo match for gold 5. Can bots spoof to appear as level 30?

It's impossible for any account to play ranked unless they're level 30. I dont think there is any kind of program that makes them appear to be 30 when they're not. If there is that's the first I've ever heard.

Might be an issue with op.gg from what it seems.

Chances are they could have just been trolls, or really bad. Who knows. But I have never heard of any account (or bot even) being able to play ranked below level 30.

Check their accounts on the league client and see what it shows. If it's different from op.gg then wait a bit before refreshing their profiles on that site and see if it was an error. If it wasn't then maybe send a support ticket to Riot with the screen shots of this game, and the accounts to show this issue.

Yeah, I thought this was the case. I was thinking since op.gg is using the API, it should be accurate but yeah perhaps it is just a bug with the site. The way they played and acted was very reminiscent of a bot in addition to seeing how op.gg showed it earlier.

op.gg is showing them as level 30 now, I'm curious as to what caused it to be different before, since the refresh was 18 hours ago, they would have had to level up the account from 5 and 11 to 30 in 18 hours? Doesn't sound legit.

So perhaps it is just wretched luck of matchmaking :( Would be nice if unranked accounts didn't end up in promotion matches though.

Lolnexus is showing the volibear at 1050 MMR, how in the world was my team rated at an average of 1522? It's not like we had any plat rated players on the our team to balance at the wukong and volibear's low MMR...

Low MMR in your matches can happen when the queue times get too long. I've gone against Plats before in Promos and I'm usually at the Gold V level haha.

It's unfortunate but in order to pad queue times they have to pull from anyone. It's an issue with the game but not uncommon.

I wish you luck on your next matches though. Hopefully you dont get screwed with similar players :(

Well I looked at their profiles in op.gg and it says they're both level 30, but both are unranked and have close to zero ranked games played. Looking at their match history there's nothing to suggest the Volibear is a bot but the Wukong is kind of iffy. Wukong plays mostly bot games or customs which doesn't say anything definitive but most bots are found in co vs AI. I think you just got really unlucky and were placed with 2 brand new level 30s on your team, it sucks but it does happen.
