Anyone relate? Support main getting trashed on

So this is my first post, but I'll try to make it brief.

I played a game a couple of weeks ago as Sona with ADC Ezreal. I was learning both Sona and the details of the support role, and said so on the in-game chat. About five minutes in, he started trashing me for not healing him constantly (sorry, but my cd reduction isn't 45% yet), poking champions away from cs mob (those are his kills, apparently - but I can't do anything but deter with ap that low), warding (sir, I have to wait like 100 seconds before I can place another one) and finally lost it when I accidentally forgot to autocancel and killed a minion with a Diminuendo power chord.

After that, he started shouting at me about being complete shit as Sona, that I should never play League for the rest of my life, and that I should go die in a hole after acknowledging my inferiority and stupidity. In the process, he would get beat by other champs despite my heals and leave me to face the music, resulting in me taking more cs in crowd clear and in time, killing bot champs, but that just pissed him off even more. He told me to get the f*uck out of bot and be useful somewhere else. Other players on my team told me to just listen to him, and said he'll realize why I was there in the first place very soon. So I left bot. Pushed with mid instead, and I must say, the player in mid was a MUCH better person to play alongside.

Of course, Ezreal tries to hold bot and utterly fails, while complaining the entire time about how I didn't heal him before he died. (I did not know about the mute function at this time.) It got so bad that I was forced to go back since they were almost at inhibitor, pulled off a glorious double kill (the power of R, Staccato and Lich Bane), and cleared crowd again. Received even more shit, and at this point, I think Ez was AFK. We lost, from bot push.

After the game ended, he went off on me about stealing CS and being horrible. Since there were some things in his rant about the "role of support", I merely answered back politely, stating that I am grateful for his advice and will apply it to later games. I guess this sent him over the edge, because he immediately returned an angry retort about me being autistic, retarded, and also said I must be a girl playing League, since by his words "girls can't play League for shit and should go play Bakery Story instead."

I'm still playing, but I continue to face people giving me complete shit about my performance as support.

What do people have against the support, for God's sake?!?

(That was not brief. My bad.)

When learning a new lane, using /mute all when game starts is always a good idea.

i've been a support main since 2013, i consider myself a good support, yet once in a while i will be laned with some really bad adc who thinks they are the real deal and im the reason we;re losing even if he walked up to the enemy and didn't avoid any skillshots. in that situation nothing i can do other than muting the guy and focusing on my own gameplay, also in that case do not commit too hard into saving him if that means that you too will get killed. even if that means him raging more at you.

Sona/Ezreal is one of my hardest lanes to date as someone who claimed Mastery 7 in such a harsh season, considering he cant use the Q boost on anything but an auto attack in lane phase if he wants to harass well...secondly, Sona is supposed to harass 24/7 since the less health the enemy has, the less likely Sona is to need to use W which is super expensive to just spam before 20m

Theres a reason Ezreal ADC is a meme, he cant fight back if the enemy ADC uses minions effectively to shut down his whole kit, alongside a thick CC support to catch him out of place like Blitzcrank or Leona.

Next time just do what I do, start quoting movies.

"This Janna is trash" Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

"Shitty [insert lane here]" Here's looking at you, kid.

"kys" Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night.

"worst [insert champion here] ever" E.T. phone home

Its mostly the adc's.

These past few months have been so bot lane oriented that its actually becoming a joke. Supports have a huge impact on the game, and whenever you play any role that at the time has a huge impact at the game, you will get flamed for nearly any move you make. But the fact that adc's have been so used to being their on their own for the most part and being able to simply outplay bot lane even if their support wasnt the best, but now they cant anymore because the enemy adc will have an ardent censor on top of him 24/7. We can all just hope that there is a meta change for next season.

sadly many of the people in this community believe that even when playing normals you have to be good at a champion and that if you're learning you should be playing bots(totally don't agree). I would say that if you want to learn a new role try to find a friend to adc with you and make it easier.

Don't worry, as you get better, this kind of thing will happen less and less over time. I'm not excusing the Ezreal's behavior though, he definitely acted like a dick.

Once you get real good and people are praising you for your godlike reflexes and saves it'll feel wonderful though.

I main support, and it’s been a bad season for us down in bot lane for a variety of reasons.

You will need to grow a thick skin. Encountering these types of players isn’t the norm, but it happens frequently enough that it is something you will have to deal with. We shouldn’t have to put up with this type of behavior, but there is no easy solution.

The first thing to realize is that the failure is his, not yours. He failed to play the game and the champ correctly, so he took his frustrations out on you. His parents failed to raise him properly, and he does not know how to interact with other people. You can almost pity him because if he is this bad in real life, he is in for a rough future.

The C in ADC stands for carry. It’s his job to carry you, not the other way around. Your job is to support him and get him to the mid to late game where he can take over. It sounds like you did that. Even the pros make mistakes. There is no such thing as a perfect game. Just learn your role and what you can do to help your team. If you get stuck with bad player, take what you can from the game and move on. That is one good thing about League. The games are short, and you can always recover.

And for the record, I know plenty of girls who can outplay me. They would totally obliterate a bad player like that Ezreal. It just proves his ignorance even further.

I play a lot of roles and I tend to get flamed the least as support. You get the occasional salty ADC but that's about it. I get flamed more as the jungler hands down.

It's like this. A salty ADC will blame a support for losing lane and vice versa. Everyone who is salty will blame noob jungler no ganks gg

I'm sorry that this was your experience.

i honestly just wish that people could play respectably and be understanding. I mean, it wasn't ranked and you're still learning: I see nothing wrong with what you did.

Unfortunately, there is a portion of our community that expects everyone to be at least Gold 1 and have Mastery 7 on the champ we're playing. Don't let it get to you, this person obviously felt entitled and threw a fit because it didn't fit his expectations.

Personally, I fill in almost every blind pick I enter (which normally turns into support), and my first main role was support. I've encountered a few like the one you described, and I completely understand. It's best just to ignore these kinds of people and focus on doing your best.

One of few exceptions is when people are angry about not moving as a group. That's important for late game because it is super easy to get picked off if you don't have to tools to escape.

I hope this helps! Good luck, and may the RNG be ever in your favor. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Bronze support main, and I can tell you that you are not alone. You can tell quickly if you have a weak ADC because they blame the support for the first bad thing that happens. I respond with a mute button. The rest of the game I do my job and try to learn from the experience. I have found that a large majority of my ADCs are good team players. I do my best to not take CS, and apologize when I do. But there will be those salty few that don't know what they're doing and expect the support to keep them alive no matter what, and sometimes you gotta just let them die.

Support is a fun, challenging position that gives you the opportunities to get involved in the entire map. I personally find the vision battle to be exciting. Finding good placed to put wards that the other team forgets to sweep is awesome. Your team will appreciate your effort, and if they don't, no problem... the next team will.

Keep working on Sona, she can be a game changer when played well.

Well at least he old you what you did wrong in his opinion, that's... something.
