Report System is Toxic

People enjoy reporting and getting feedback because they cherish the feeling of someone else getting punished/hurt and the feeling of having power over someone else's fate. Rito's policy says don't argue back to flamers, but the only reason most people report is to exact revenge on the person who said something they didn't like. I've never played an online game where the report system wasn't some just some irrelvent unused button. Then I met League of legends where reports happen every game. It's honestly sad playing this game dealing with this report system thats so integral in the game. Quite frankly there shouldn't be report feedback messages. It's just sadistic. Tell these kids to get some thick skin because, after the game ends, literally no one cares or remembers who called them trash. I see no point for a report system asides from things that cause legal issues, Cheating, INTing, and AFKing.

Which is why Riot intentionally made the system only rarely give feedback.

They don't want you to argue because that VERY rarely deflates a situation. Reporting someone to get them removed does prevent future

I don't report every game. Do you? Or are you being reported in every game, in which case: Have you considered that you are the problem, and not the system/community.

It's still too much. There should never be a message if you reported someone and got them in trouble. It makes people think nothing happened if there was no message and it encourages justice porn if you did get the message.

As NEACE said, the report/behavior system was an expansion pack to League of Legends. There is no game where reporting is such a big part of the game as it is in League.

It's called tit-for-tat reporting. If you announce you are reporting me or are trying to get me reported, I might as well do the same to you. Very few people are contesting being reported for false reporting, if it ever happens here. I've searched for threads on people getting punished for fake reports and I couldn't find any since 2013ish.

Reporting works, or at least can work, that's why people do it. Riot pushes the report as a way to get revenge on someone.

How else do you think they should present the reporting system? There is a need for a feedback message because if someone ruins my game, I want to know that the system works. I think Riot has struck a nice balance between giving feedback to show the system works, and not spamming me with notifications. Why would they guy who was banned care if I get a message? He will never know and he deserved to be banned, hence his opinion doesn't matter.

I think the reporting system is counter-productive and needs completely rebuilt from the ground-up.

I don't think there is any need to alert a user when they have been punished for reasons states above:

It makes people think nothing happened if there was no message and it encourages justice porn if you did get the message.

COD, CS:GO, World of Warcraft Battlegrounds. Literally have no recollection of the reporting system. Unlike league of legends. People argue in chat "Report this guy!". People don't do well "Report this guy!". Please name me a single online player game that has a report system that's this integral in the game and is used this often? There's nothing baseless about that observation. You just seem really adamant about arguing with me and trying to make snarky remarks at my character.

If the only argument you have is 'League reporting system is different from other games', which a very weak argument, then you have no case.

Im not adamant in arguing with you, in fact I would prefer not to. I pointed out your hypocrisy with a snarky remark to keep the situation light, but as someone with 'thick skin' you should have been able to completely ignore that remark?

Totally agreed. If you are reporting anyone with the hope of getting them in trouble, this is abusing the reporting system.

Agreed. Sadly, things you said are the only thing that matters in this game because Riot would have to go watch games to see trolling and they aren't doing that. The remake system also cannot even spot AFK's/DC's half the time.
