They did use third software and they are just trying to unban themselves by saying it wasn't them.

Well banned ! Caitlyn

People who say their account got hacked and banned are liars.

That's not universally true, and we, as players, have no legitimate ability or information to make that judgment.

So far as I've seen, though, a fair number of such cases are legitimate (though I haven't seen Riot's verdict on cases displayed on the boards.)

If you believe they're lying, then, you're entitled to your opinion, but having seen one such case myself (my brother was similarly affected a while ago), I'm personally willing to give players the benefit of the doubt; I encourage them to check their match history to see if things line up, and if they don't, I direct them to Riot Support.

Anything beyond that, though, is out of my hands. If Riot determines that they're liars, then, they're probably liars, but otherwise, we do have to assume honesty and good intent on the part of those who make these posts.

This is false.

If you've ever actually looked into any of these cases (which I have, I've been reviewing them for a very long time now) you'd see that most of them are illegitimate bans and have very simple, telltale signs such as queue type, role type, champion patterns, and score differences.

Obviously there will be some people who lie about it, but otherwise a majority of cases (at least here) are false bans. Ultimately Riot's decision on how to handle it, but you're entitled to your own opinion.

Sometimes that might be the case, sure.

But, Riot has their IP adress, and if suddenly the location of logging changed, then it's a pretty strong evidence that they were indeed hacked.

Not to mention that if you frequently log in from different places, then the automated system suspends the account until the owner proves that it's his.

Riot is able to tell whether there was actual unauthorized entry. They can also tell the difference between between a hack and giving others (like a booster) authorized entry.

So let them complain about it here, so we can redirect them to Riot and let Riot do the investigation. Not our job to do the investigation.
