Also, don't have the same password for everything. LoL passwords are of minimal consequence when compared to email passwords. Your email is the gateway into your life. You should protect it as if it were cash in your pocket. In addition, choose a secure password. I'm not talking about "8 characters with some special combination". A secure password is a short phrase that is easy to remember, but hard for someone to guess. That phrase should be a minimum of 30 characters long, IMO.
Also, look into two-factor authentication for gmail (sometimes abbreviated as 2FA). It may seem like overkill, but as I said above, your email is the key to your online kingdom. Once they are in there, you can bet that all your online accounts are compromised.
I have followed those two principals (long, hard to guess password, and use 2FA) for years. Through all of the breeches that have occurred, not once have I seen other accounts breached, even when those other accounts may have had insecure passwords.
