Being banned for Toxicity

What is the point in Riot making a mute button if you can just get reported and then banned? I recently got a 2 week ban for being toxic. Yes, for anyone already thinking "There you go you got banned for being toxic" that isn't really a fair statement. Being toxic is really all up to how someone percieves it. For instance, people who cuss a lot generally get reported, but what if that's just how they talk? It's extremely unfair to be reported and punished just like that. Riot puts in a mute button so people can simply silence that person and move on. Instead of one person taking two seconds out of their game to mute another, they can take two seconds out of their day after the game to report and have that person punished. If someone is reported for toxicity there should be more lenience since there is a way for the player to simply mute that person. If you have any thoughts or a counter argument please state them I'd love to be enlightened!

Muting stops the problem for that particular game, reporting makes it so that person doesnt affect future games with other people. The point is Riot wants everyone to be treated fairly. If this is how you talk despite the fact that it is breaking the rules you have to basically find another game. If you dont want to get ban dont break the rules. Or play with people who you know wont report you!

Cussing isnt a problem on NA servers You can say fuck, damn, shit, etc it becomes a problem when you direct it at another user example "fuck you, you trash ass, adc I wish you'd stop playing this game, you waste of space go die in a hole" Now the cursing(among other things) is a problem

But saying Fuck, I got gibbed is fine. I've not been punished for similar phrases(haven't used that one in awhile)

Referring to leniency In general a user is given many chances to reform 2 different Chat restrictions a 14 day ban then a perma ban 3 second chances to prove you're a good person(or at least an asshole)

Summoners code, really should read it

Yeah, it's mob rule. Pretty arbitrary and all about how the other players feel. Even complaining about team comp. can get you punished. It doesn't matter what's right or wrong. This isn't about fairness. It's about what people feel and only approved opinions are allowed regardless of what's correct (even if you are keeping the discussion purely about the game and not resorting to personal insults).

In the same vein, most people would have been offended if a person of color used the same bathroom 75 years ago in the US. Does that make those people right just because they were in the majority? Obviously it was a different social context so it's a bit unfair to denounce them for being bigots or racists retroactively but the point is that consensus and feelings don't mean much in the end when it comes to ethics or morality. Riot isn't acting based on what's right and you have no right to see the chat in context (even anonymously so it can be understood what the intention is) or get a hearing of any sort. They are acting on what makes business sense. Just like during segregation it made business sense to bar blacks from certain restaurants, Riot knows that allowing certain opinions an equal chance to exist makes the majority of their customers mad. Thus, negative opinions, even if expressed respectfully and well-supported, do not have an equal chance to exist without punishment. You will never be chastised for saying "let's go team!" in a nearly unwinnable game but if you say "our comp. has no late game threat and we are down far too much to come back", you may find some sensitive individuals reporting you for negative attitude because to them, perception overpowers reality and logic.

If you get banned and you play a lot of games without being toxic, does the threat of getting banned for longer go down or stay the same? please answer because i'm actually worried.Amumu
