Excessive pinging problem -- allow us to block offenders

I just had a game where 3 people on my team made a concerted effort to ping the map the entire game. Each one of them would ping as many times as they could, one after the other. Every other game now, if not more frequently, has this problem. People are abusing the ping system and it has gotten on my last nerve. People will ping the question mark over you incessantly every time you die. They will ping the question mark and the exclamation point over you as you're walking back to lane. They'll ping you just for walking around and killing minions. They ping every single instant and we CAN'T BLOCK THESE PEOPLE'S PINGS EVEN IF WE BLOCK THEIR CHAT MESSAGES.

Please allow us to block pings. The pings from these people are not important. They are so frequent that they become meaningless anyway, so just allow us to not hear them.

Esc -> Settings -> Sounds -> Scroll down to the bottom, click the mute button next to the ping -> hearing the ping is gone, ignore the players ??????????? and move on. Reset it before the game ends or it will be the same in the next game...

But what if I need to hear the pings of the players who aren't trolling?

you have a minimap, use it... should be paying more attention to it then the lane//jungle your in anyway

That mutes pings for all players.

Generally, people just want to block the toxic ping-spamming idiots since they aren't going to be contributing anything worthwhile.

truth be told your right - but if sounds alter how your playing, remove the sound, and read my last statement

It would be great is players who spam pings could only do 2 pings each 30 sec. or so. But mute pings would hurt the game overall i think

I get that Riot wants to have a minimum line of communication available. But I wonder if a compromise could be reached. They already have a system that blocks people using pings if they spam them too fast in succession. What if Riot made it possible to mute pings by players that run into that limitation X times in the same game?

There's few things as tilting as "back ping! back ping! back ping! back ping! back ping! back ping! back ping!'
