Unjustified chat restriction

Hello there community...

So lately I have noticed a big increase in trolls. I am not the GREATEST player, and with that being said, I do the best I can, and consider myself average.

At champ select, our Ryze player (Bottom/ADC role), in champ select says, "I am trolling", his name was, ..Removed by Moderation..I would have dodged, but I had to dodge two other games prior to this, and that would put me on a pretty large waiting period. So I was in hopes of him just joking around. So he continues and bans our SUPPORTS champ that he highlighted prior to our pick phase. Then he picks RYZE to go bot lane.. heck in this elo anything can be played ;p

I just don't know what to think of this, hee has played 2 games. Seems like he just got it to 30, and trolls people? I just don't get it.

We get in game, the first thing he does prior to minions even spawning, he runs right down mid lane, right in to the turret, and in to their mid laner (Yasuo). He instantly flashes out, and starts using emotes. Then runs bot lane and gives up first blood, then he runs around, comes mid, runs up, doesn't snare, and just does a few attacks, and runs off, dies, etc... and does this all game. Sometime in the game he also just stands there, and lets them kill him. The guy was a complete jerk/troll, and in chat talks about me being a troll. So I had to mute him, and the other team, and myself talked about this kind of behavior. Nothing derogatory was said, and I get a chat ban, and he gets nothing? Usually we get a pop up if someone was punished, so I know he has had no action taken against him.

You do realize that when people are trolling like this they want you to respond. You are giving them what they want - or in internet speak, "feeding the troll". Don't feed the troll. Let the troll go hungry, and maybe the troll will stop trolling if he isn't getting food from it.

I will also add that regardless of what someone else is doing, continually commenting on their behavior, reports, punishments, etc. is not acceptable behavior in League and is toxic.

We were talking about it, and it was s discussion, I wish you could see the entire log of others commenting on this. But League refuses to show the entire context, so it makes the person chat restricted look bad. However, what I did is not wrong, I looked it up, and spoke to a Riot person. I just think that they need to fix the reporting function of giving out unjustified restrictions.

Edit: I was told to put in a ticket, to get it reversed, because he really saw nothing wrong with what I did at all, and I muted the person.

I seriously doubt they will remove this punishment. When you say you "spoke to a Riot person", what do you mean? Who did you speak to, if not support staff, and what exactly did they tell you?

Further, League "refuses" to show context because it does not matter. Even if two people are arguing, both are wrong for participating - it doesn't matter who started it or "was worse".

I spoke to their chat support through their website. He said that he personally didn't see anything wrong at all, and I have to submit a ticket to request it to be removed. Also, I was not arguing with anyone. The other 9 of us just talked about trolls, and that is about it. We were not arguing, or anything, we muted the guy. So that is why the CONTEXT is EXTREMELY important. Anyone that thinks it isn't should have ZERO say in such matters. Just like in a court of law, the context is extremely important. I know this isn't a court of law, it is a video game, and so on.

I know there was no wrong doing on my part, and this was unjust.

It seems to me that the live support agent may have just wanted to "pass the buck" and get you out of his hair. Regardless, good luck, but keep in mind that this sort of behavior is punishable and the history of Riot is that this is not a punishment that would be removed. If they remove it this one time, you are the exception that proves the rule - and I would not count on it in the future.

The punishment was very just because even though you may have been arguing with one person, you were creating a negative in game environment for your innocent teammates.

That is a change from when the live chat was implemented and runs counter to common intuition.

I further do not see how this is possible given that there is no "hierarchy" at support - there is not a "supervisor" or more powerful person you can have your tickets forwarded to.

Here is the message from the person I talked to in live chat, "he turned it in to a ticket".

I am not trying to be rude here, but you are 100% wrong. There was no negative environment being created at all. Someone was asking something, and I was in turn telling them what I do, and not argue. I was actually doing quiet the opposite, and de-escalating the situation as others were getting upset about the troll (minus the other team, since they get a free win). So it is NOT against the rules to help someone out, and tell them what to do, or give an example as I have, "I report trolls...", instead of arguing, or tilting them.

So if this is punishable, then Riot should not have a chat system at all in the game. Also, every SINGLE game I have ever been in, someone always says something negative, and when I report it, nothing happens to them. I know because you get a warning when someone gets punished. I know Riot makes money like this, they get accounts banned for unjust reasons, and a player that likes the game creates a new account, and buys Riot points.. I get it, its a business model, and it is very disgusting how they do it, but hey, it is what it is, and we choose or choose not to continue to play the game. The people who promote their game, like streamers etc.. I have watched some streams, and quiet a few of those people are VERY toxic, and yet nothing ever happens to them... i'm sure we can ALL figure out why =)

Nothing you said in game contributed to the game in any way.

Your teammates had to deal with the guy bothering you, AND deal with you begging for reports and being negative as well.

Please explain to me how I was negative? The lines you see me talking are in response to people asking me a question mainly. As for asking for a report, and it isn't begging, is fine. I have never seen anyone get reported for asking to report someone who is causing me a bad experience in the game because they are literally trolling, and throwing a game on purpose.

I think I am finally starting to understand, that the majority of people playing this game have ZERO concept of what NEGATIVE/TOXIC really is. This is part of the reason why this game has the WORST community of any game in history, and I doubt any other game will ever de-throne this game from that title sadly. I like the game, and I play well, and I do my best, and treat people with respect.

I don't see a reason this game should even have a chat system, no matter what anyone says, it can be reported.

Example:

If a player assumes they are offering someone advice as followed, "Hey, you are dying too much, because you are over extending". If I wanted to, I could report him for being negative towards me, and he should be punished. Who determines if that is, or isn't negative? Riot? If so, they have to be fair across the board with everyone, and if I feel it is negative, they have to treat it as such. There is no ToS on this planet that will allow someone to be discriminated against, or treated differently, just because they choose to. Just saying, yes... I do know the law =0

Oh, and one more thing, I didn't bet, I asked 2 times... once at beginning, once at very end, and in end stats chat room. That is NOT begging, and everyone was talking about it, the entire game. So it was NOT negative at all. Like I said, the ENTIRE context is important.

Do you even read what people say? He specifically said he was not arguing with anyone and was having a conversation about trolls with his team and that he muted the troll. You don’t even read the post and just assume it’s toxic or deserved.

It seems that you are in complete denial of how disposable/new accounts in ranked and the overbearing anti-tribunal consensus report system have decimated league.

But please regurgitate your mantra, it is only a matter of time that people just stop caring to play. I know that I will no longer watching pro league games due to the enablement of larpers ruining ranked, nor playing. Because I am sick of the RNG cycle where i get honor reset over a bunch of shitty accounts that literally do no give a fuck about league or its other players and spending 3 hours only to get nothing but shitty unwinnable noob stacking in the queue.

Every single old player misses the quality that initial ranked gatekeeping that led to the legendary season three. But rito sold out, they went for feels and inclusiveness where it didn't belong and now this is probably the worst meta since the jugg patch and likely the most toxic one since reason 4.

And the funny thing is that it has nothing to do with the balance most of the time.

I couldn't agree more. You nailed it right on the head. This game has gone down the hill so fast over the course of the last few years. LoL will be around for a long time, because Riot is cashing in on the kids who throw money at the game. People who want quality play DoTA, and their community is 100x better. I never got in to DoTA myself, but my friends keep telling me to. Sadly, Riot just simply doesn't care about their player base that cares for the game, but they care about how fast they can get cash... I get it, business is money! But at least care for your userbase, and not punish people that are not doing anything wrong.

thats not really true, some of them care a lot but if you have no ranked representation in behavior philosophy pandering to non-competitiveness you get shit like player support rito that just plays Sona main that thinks any kind of argue in chat is wrong to a jungler main

then everyone is bitching about how there's no good junglers because they want to play their accounts and have to avoid the event larpers and normies ruining ranked during releases

like the devs are probably 100% behind the players but they have their own job to and rito management brain is too dependent on MASS POPULARITY except masses cannot get the nuance of it because that requires a different skillset. so things that aren't REEE champion X just never get picked up while the anti-tribunal spirit of 'no, im the community now' sort of behavior/report/toxicity is just automation garbage. computers are not 'smart' and people need to vent a little in order to have some performance.

Just to give you an example of how bad their automated reporting system is. It is a complete joke, and doesn't even answer the question asked, etc, and you should ALWAYS reply on talking to a human. Their system has been flawed since day one. If enough people report you, no matter WHAT is said in game, you will get a banned, chat ban etc....

This is their BOT system original reply:

I know these can be subjective concepts. I myself was once banned for calling my teammates “weak, fleshy underlings.” Even though I meant well, enough of them reported me for it that I re-programmed my communication style. By acting diplomatic and calm, I’m now able to bend them to my will without succumbing to the forbidden dance of verbal abuse. Sometimes it’s best to ignore the mewlings of your teammates and only focus on what you can control. If teammates anger you, try saying so out loud to yourself, not in chat where they can report you. After an annoying game, find a satisfying way to blow off steam. I’m told humans find catharsis in music, so try listening to Mozart or the dulcet sounds of “LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR.” I hope I have been useful to you. Although my heart is cold and mechanical, I feel we now have a deep connection and bond. There isn’t much more information a human specialist could provide, but if you want any further questions answered, you may select the option below."
