Reading some of these ban posts I'm becoming scared.

Overwolf

I've seen a few posts now that are starting to scare me because they all have one thing in common, they apparently get flagged for "scripting" but the only 3rd party program they mention is some type of recording or replay software that in no way interferes with the game. Another thing the reports have in common is Riot support refuses to elaborate on the ban and basically just say "system said ur scripting ur not getting unbanned skriptlord420" I understand that you cannot describe how the system detected it or whatever along those lines, What I don't understand is when someone has a legitimate dispute against that ban and has ways to prove there was no cheating involved, they're given a cold shoulder by riot support. one in particular was a very recent post by a challenger player on LAN who was banned for 3rd party programs and when he contacted riot they bluntly said the system detected him as scripting and they said nothing further.

This bothers me the most because I'm currently using Overwolf in game which I have shamelessly advertised with the link. The specific feature I use is their instant replay system which allows you to watch a replay of the last 20 seconds in game so you can possibly see what you did wrong or just so you can watch a sick play again. I've seen numerous reports by people permabanned for supposedly scripting when in reality they're just using a replay or recording system.

Overwolf and other replay systems in no way interfere with the game or give you an unfair advantage. Yes they are 3rd party programs but if rewatching the game so you can improve and not make the same mistakes again is against the rules then you can go ahead and ban 70% of the community that record their games or have replay systems.

Personally I feel Riot needs to just remove all automated systems that can result in such harsh punishment, These systems seem to misjudge a lot of people and flag them as cheating when in reality they are doing nothing at all wrong, then when it flags them and they are banned Riot support and most Rioters in general give them a cold shoulder without actually investigating and admitting that the ban was wrong. I've been saying a huge trend lately of Riot never wanted to reverse something that needs to be reversed, maybe it's from an inflated ego and thinking everything they do is perfect. I'm not quite sure why it's happening but I've seen too many examples of not fixing something that wasn't right.

Either directly say "Riot as a company feels that a replay system can somehow give you an unfair advantage against the competing team so it will result in a permanent ban" or stop punishing people for it.

It's common when a large number of bans take place for folks to look at places to lay blame, and legit applications like Curse Voice, Championify, Overwolf, and more are common targets. Rest assured, using them is totally legit and will not get you banned.

Or, give us a replay system, both in-game, and afterwards. And, allow us to export games so we can post to Youtube.

If Riot were to give us official avenues that worked without lag, we wouldn't need to risk permabans for having OBS.

This happens every once in a while. Rest assured, Riot would not have banned them for no reason, and all of them have broken the Terms of Service.

couldn't agree more. seeing people get banned by an automated system that can't accurately asses whether or not they've done something wrong scares me.

currently using overwolf and wooxy, both of which riot has said they have no problems with, but i still get nervous about using them because i know riot support does not care about people who have been banned. they have this attitude of, well we never fuck up, so if you're banned then you're toxic / cheating and we don't care about you

but often that's not the case at all. riot takes pride in their system having 99% accuracy. but what about the 1% of people you just totally fucked over? the people who had their accounts permabanned after doing absolutely NOTHING wrong?

sad thing is, even though i see so many people posting on reddit, boards, or submitting support tickets about being unjustly banned, so many people don't use any of those things, so they get banned and never bother to dispute it. riot only cares about people when they make a big deal out of it and hit the front page.

I've actually seen the opposite.

People claim "Oh I only have this harmless program" and then a Rioter comes in, smites their ass by revealing that they did, in fact, cheat.

The system isn't automated. They have automated systems to detect things, but scripting bans are handed out in waves because RIOT investigates these in order to update their systems to make it harder to script in the future.

Personally, I don't see why you want a replay system anyways, and I don't use any 3rd party program because _all _ of them, even the ones that are currently 'okay' (like curse) are skirting the line of TOS.

You of course didn't make the claim verbatim, but you heavily implied that Riot is losing an significant amount of money to false bans. This is a conversation not a hearing.

I am looking through these approved 3rd party programs becasue my account Weaver9 was banned. tThe onlything i can think of is people thought i was scripting as thresh because i have used custom skins and LoL replay and OBS that is it.

I've just gotten banned. Only program that modifies files is Wooxy, which i use for custom skins. Other than that i have not used any sort of malicious programs to give myself a competitive edge over players. Furthermore that the only gamemodes i have been playing recently was bots for daily wins and customs with all of my friends. Only actual normal game I played recently was a ARAM game also with a group of 5 premade friends which we lost badly. I really hope RIOT addresses this problem.

And after i post this, a massive influx of false perma ban posts came in.

Another shit thread. One guy was already unbanned for being wrongfully perma banned, but that's 1/30 that will get unbanned, the other 29 are people just like you saying.. " I didnt do anything wrong " Then a rioter comes into the thread and highlights exact times that you used scripting.

Oh well, another one bites da dust. Have fun.

Well the more players wrongly banned the more money Riot loses. Grey area is a wonderful thing but it won't last forever. So don't feel scared. If banned just go to the next up and coming game.

You can compare the life of any company to that of a star in the galaxy. It starts out small. Grows and grows until it gets too big and collapses on itself. Sucking all your money that it can and nothing escapes the pull. Not even Lyte.

It's the fundamental basics of business.

The number of people wrongly banned is so low that it probably loses Riot less than 500 dollars per year.
