Lets get this straight, I'm writing this because I believe that the player tribunal is broken and flawed.

I've gotten in touch with RIOT and they won't even respond to my most recent and OBVIOUSLY FLAWED player tribunal cards.

I'll give the backstory... a few days back, I received my first ever chat ban. My first ever....

I deserved it, I do not deny that... And although I'm usually positive and keep a straight attitude, carry most of my games, I tilted one game because I've had a string of AFK and feeders on my team, and it was another ranked game (I think) and my support bmed my jungler in all chat which caused him to blacklist botlane and refuse to gank.. He later went afk so I was a little mad that I've lost like 3 ranked games in a row and so I tilted.. I WAS WRONG I ADMIT THAT.

Shortly after that chatban ended, I was HONOR LEVEL 1, and DISHONORABLE. I find myself in a new game with a 3 man premade, the jungler (who intentionally rolled jungle) chose not to take smite and chose to duo toplane in a draft pick game.

I made the mistake of bringing up the fact that picking jungle and depriving the team of a jungler is tantamount to griefing and its not fair to me and the rest of the team. I didn't realize it was a 3 man premade until they all started jumping down my throat... Here is the chat logs.

Please do note that these are unedited and the other players' chat is not listed in this log so it is pretty one-sided, but even still I did not call anybody any names, and did not tilt on any of them, I didn't call anyone out for feeding, and the onlyreference to a player's score was "Shes 0-8" because someone said I was inting and that the jungler wasn't the problem, when I was like 4-9 and she was 0-8 and thats the only reference I made.

Now, I brought this to riot's attention

They have yet to respond about this chat log. But I've gotten numerous responses to another chat log.

Halfway through this 25 game chat ban, I got obviously paired with ANOTHER premade, mind you I'm chat banned and HONOR 0 now... So any reports against me count very heavily against my account...

Here is the story on this one...

I lock in yasuo adc, I rolled adc, I got adc.

My support "Mrs Momma" is her summoner name, says immediately "No, you're not adc, I'm adc now... yasuo cannot adc" and she locks in THRESH (WHICH ISN'T AN ADC I MIGHT ADD). I shrug it off, whatever.. When the game starts, she buys a long sword and starts stealing all of my cs...

and here is the chat log..

Game 1 Stuck In Grey: get a support item thresh Stuck In Grey: ur so toxic lol! Stuck In Grey: but I got assigned adc... Stuck In Grey: plz stop taking minions you're the support, and plz start hooking her, stop griefing plz Stuck In Grey: just gonna mute you guys... yasuo adc is a thing and shes griefing me and you're her premade.. muting and reporting both of u Stuck In Grey: wow hes fed... Stuck In Grey: I'm reporting this nasus too.. its not right to troll in games, even if its a normal Stuck In Grey: I'm not useless, the support was playing against me since champ select.... Stuck In Grey: okay just muted and reported nasus

I said to myself in champ select "Don't tilt on these guys.. Don't get into any more trouble" Throughout the entire game I got bmed by orianna midlane and my support, so I said I'm gonna just mute them and report them for being toxic... Then the top laner (Nasus) began bming me for the other two, whom are now muted because I was trying my best to not tilt.

I didn't say anything or do anything wrong in this game, but because I was honor 0 and my support, mid and top were in a premade, their 3 reports triggered yet another player Tribunal and I got an instant 14 day ban...

I did everything in my power to not get upset and not take it out on them, I simply muted and reported them in the end, I let them know I was muting and reporting them because I didn't want them to keep on BMING me instead of playing the game, because like every game, I play to win.. As everyone else should.

I hope you all could read and understand that the player Tribunal is flawed, and hopefully a riot employee can take special note of my situation and perhaps assist me in getting caught in this sticky situation of misfortune and 1 mistake in being toxic on my first chatban ever..

I understand why I became honor 1... but being honor 1 has caused such frustration and unfairness in the last few days... I didn't deserve the second chat ban and I definitely didn't deserve the 14 day suspension..

Please someone forward this to a riot employee..

  • Don't tell people you're going to report them.
  • 9 reports = 1 report
  • "Player tribunal" does not exist anymore. It is automated.
  • False reports are filtered out.

After a 14-day ban, any negativity will get you a perma. Telling someone you're going to report them is negative and unnecessary. You were warned.

I don't understand what I did though, so the only thing I did wrong was say I was gonna report people who were intentionally ruining a game for everyone else?

And I asked the riot employees what I did wrong and they never told me it was because I merely suggested I was gonna report someone.. Nobody ever told me this.. Not a single person... And Player Tribunal does exist because it says in my player behavior card "Players have judged your behavior below league standards"

I kinda don't understand the difference, I'm genuinely curious what the difference is.

Was player triggered tribunal something that set an appointment for a riot employee to review my logs?

And the new automated system purely goes off of reports now?

or am I missing the point.... Because if it's an automated system now, that lends more credence to my original point, that while I'm sure it catches many perpetrators where deserved, that sometimes people get lost between the lines..

Let me put it simply.

If I were in your game, I'd mute and report you at the end. I do that with people who act all negative and essentially ruin my experience. If Quinn was like that, that player would get the same treatment.

Also, saying you'll report someone, IIRC, counts as harassment. If not, it's just added negativity the match doesn't need and no one else cares about. Just shut up and do it.

But where does it say that? How can you punish someone for a rule which isn't published anywhere? Can you please direct me to an official rule on their website or in game client, that I could review all of the rules and adhere to them..

I just think its unfair, I did what I thought was completely acceptable.

Also, please read the second chat log.. The one which landed me a 14 day restriction, lets run with what you're saying, and say you'd report me for what I said in the quinn game..

but what about the last chat history, the one which landed me the 14 day suspension.. Tell me anywhere in there I was intentionally attacking any of them.. Nowhere, I was simply responding to them saying they were gonna report me, and I'm the reason we're losing, and yasuo isn't an adc, and thresh would have been a better adc, etc etc the toxicity runs on and on... and I literally said "I'm muting and reporting you" Thats all I said, how can I be penalized for that, thats completely unfair, thats all I'm saying, put me back on chat restriction, and I'll just mute everyone and completely restrict myself access to a core feature of the game (chat) and play the rest of my life without ever socializing in this game.. but don't restrict my account for 14 days.. Thats not fair, especially when I did everything in my power to not be toxic, I never intended to offend any of them, I intended to just back out of an argument..

Thats the god's honest truth.

Nah the IFS determines behavior based on player feedback. This means it is still the community that is determining what is punishable by the IFS.

At least that is what riot says.

I appreciate your comment, my only gripe is with the last chat log, that I did everything in my power to stay out of an argument, and to not tilt or call them names or abuse them verbally, and because they abused me verbally I said I was going to mute and report them. Again I had no idea that it was against the rules to say I was gonna report someone. Its not listed in any rules or in the summoner code, its not given as an example in the terms of use. I thought I was doing the right thing by saying what I said, and avoiding the argument completely..

If I was wrong I'm sorry, but a 14 day account ban for 9 chat messages and a automated tribunal. Its just not feeling fair at all...

I wasn't at all negative to any of them, and they were saying they were gonna report me too, so saying it back to them made me wrong by default? Not in the chat ban one.. but the 14-day ban one?! I literally backed out of the fight with all of them, I literally said.. Okay whatever, just gonna mute and report, done... I backed out of the fight, I literally made every effort to not aggress the situation, I chose purposely made the logical decision to just back out of the fight, I didn't even want to be a part of the fight.. I don't understand how I try to do the right thing and get penalized???

Is there an automated filter for the word 'report'?? How could an automated system judge that my comms in a 9 message long game chat log, was toxic, when I didn't curse anyone out.. This was literally only triggered because someone reported me, thats it.. Because I was honor 0 and reported, thats the only explanation and you can't assert that my comms were aggressive or negative at all, in the last chat log because I didn't do anything to deserve their aggression and I didn't even retaliate, I just told them what I intended to do, insinuating that they can continue to fight with me all they want, my course of action has already been decided..

I don't see how that is negative or aggressive or uneccessary.... If the chat isn't for chatting, why do you include this feature?

I'd also like to note, that I've taken the liberty to look through the summoner's code, and nowhere does it suggest that saying that I plan to report someone is against the rules..

Also, I'd like to note, that it DOES say in summoner code #3; and I quote:

Just state your side and exit the conversation gracefully rather than give them the opportunity to pick a fight.

which I did, I stated my side, that I don't want to stand for their toxic behavior, and I will mute and report them, and literally gracefully left the conversation..

I didn't violate ANY RULES in the last chat log, not a single one. I'm merely asking the people who wrote the rules, to adhere to the rules and judge me based on the rules, not personal opinions. Not insinuations, not speculation, but on the facts.

It wasn't to make them "feel" or "play" any better, it was to let them know that nothing they have to say I will be listening to after that point, and for the chat and toxicity they've already shown, I intend to report them, the last game I didn't call for anyone else to report them, I simply said that this was my intentions.. That isn't harassment, or a threat, because a threat is something along the lines of: IF U DON'T DO XYZ I WILL DO THIS. I mentioned that because of their overwhelmingly toxic behavior I was planning to report them. That shouldn't be against the rules..

Its not a rulebreak because there is no rule which explicitely discusses that factor, nowhere is it listed nor is it made readily available that suggesting that you will report them is a rule break..

If I said "If you keep on spam pinging me, I will report you" is that against the rules? Or is that on the line? I said what I said to stop a discussion.. and I'm being punished for trying to not be toxic.. I understand what it looks like.. but bare in mind that this account has been around for two seasons, and I've only been punished these 3 times within the span of 1 week... Please quantify that and understand that I'm not a toxic player, I'm only a victim of circumstance..

I was judged toxic because of a 9 line chat history, ONLY BECAUSE I WAS REPORTED BY A 3 MAN PREMADE WHEN THEY CLEARLY HAD EVERY INTENTION OF REPORTING ME WHETHER I SPOKE OR NOT

everyone here told you that asking to report is pointless sicne 9 = 1 report and its toxic and thus a rulebreak. you dont listen to anyone. we cant help you sry, enjoy the permaban.

Not one sentence got you banned.

The whole of your two chat logs did. A lot of negativity and you TYPE TOO MUCH. Just mute and play. LESS TYPING, MORE PLAYING.

If you would have literally just shut up and muted, you would be fine. You don't need a specific rule. Your chats are negative and harassing. Threatening to report over and over again is enough for punishment. You did it two games and I have a feeling you have done it in many more games.

When you get back you will be on a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. Any thing Riot deems against the rules will get you PERMABANNED.

You want to avoid that? Stay out of the chat window except to type things you are doing FOR THE GAME but otherwise LESS TYPING, MORE PLAYING. Want to communicate? use pings.

I didn't request anyone to report anyone in the second game, and I didn't KNOW THAT SAYING I PLAN TO REPORT SOMEONE IS AGAINST THE RULES.

I told everyone multiple times I did not know that saying I intend to report someone is against the rules.

and in the second game I sent 9 messages dude.. a total of 9.. in a 25 minute game.. How is that too much? That could easily be "gj" per kill..

I don't understand the logic, I do understand what you're saying and I won't ever say I'm planning to report someone ever again, but try and look at it from my perspective.. I tried my best to stay away from fighting and arguing, I merely said I was muting and reporting -- I didn't know saying reporting you is against the rules, now I do, and I will never say it again, but the last chat log I honestly wasn't toxic or trying to be.

Listen -- I understand you guys probably read a zillion of these chat logs per day.. but take a step back and really read the last chat log.. I did everything right there apart from saying I was gonna report someone.. I stayed in my lane, helped in teamfights, saved people from ezreal ults even when they were toxic to me, I didn't int, even though we all did bad... if anything I did wrong, I said I intend to report them for their overly toxic attitudes towards me. and griefing me from champ select..

Anybody could see I had pure intentions in the last game, I never intended to piss anyone off, they were pissed off at me at lvl 1... because I locked in a champion... Its not right and its not fair.

I'm simply asking for someone to address this auto-ban I received, because it was triggered upon me, it was only 1 game, because only 1 game is in the player behavior card. I'm not being intentionally thickheaded, I feel like majority of you are forming an opinion on me based solely on the fact that I was chat banned at the time of the 14 day suspension. But if you really look and read, line by line, I never said anything wrong in the last one, apart from saying I plan to report them... BECAUSE I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS AGAINST THE RULES..

Seriously, I told myself "Don't get into any more trouble" "Just mute and report them" so I told them my intentions and dropped the whole thing.. Why would I do something I knew was wrong if I wanted to stay OUT OF TROUBLE..

Unfortunately by your second game you were on a chat restriction or coming off of one. You knew that the ice was very thin. Can Riot be rough when they have you on thin ice? Yeah maybe. But your best bet would have just been to say nothing at all. I know that sounds unfair but it is by far your best defense. We are not judging you because you were chat restricted (Though that means you have been toxic before.) Punishments go from as follows:

First offense: 10 game chat restriction
Second offense: 25 game chat restriction
Third offense: 2 week ban
Fourth offense: Permanent ban

You were on the 25 game chat ban. This means you already had a 10 game. This means you were already an escalating case of toxic behavior.

But like I said, it was the cumulative reports from separate games that seem to have gotten you banned.

This post will actually explain exactly what happened to you. But I assume you fell to the fact that once you get the 10 day, they are monitoring you and looking for more reports.

"We’re reducing the delay between action and consequence (which we’ve observed significantly increases rates of reform) by handing out chat restrictions within 15 minutes of a game’s end. Along those same lines, restricted players now receive escalated punishments as they ‘earn’ them, rather than waiting until their restriction expires to learn what’s next."

It was a 3 man premade that purposely ruin games, if you looked at their match history, they intentionally took the jungle slot and duo topped, throwing 3 games including the one I was chat banned in, in a row...

Maybe, I shouldn't have interacted with them, and that was poor judgement, but it was the 3 man premade's reports against me which gave me the 25 minute chat ban, which again, I never threatened (apart from saying I was gonna report them/suggesting to report them), harassed, talked down upon, tilted on, called any of them names, inted, or anything of that sort in said game, it was merely the automated chat ban which got me..

Now granted it was a lot more messages than 9 messages, but I didn't feel like I was saying anything wrong, otherwise I would have stopped talking..

Now moving forward, I tried EVEN HARDER to not offend any of them in my latest chat log, I tried my hardest to convey my disapproval of what they were doing, and not being passive aggressive or aggressive or harassing as possible... I literally said nothing negative to them at all -- I just need someone to sympathise with me and read into the situation, yeah my track record looks bad... but consider I was never toxic for the two years I've owned this account, I literally never been chat banned on this account, each chat ban/temp-ban only had 1 game on the behavior card, I was ONLY judged on the games I presented to you, no other games. I'm not pulling chains here, I'm only reaching out to the community in the hopes that someone really reads the chat logs and understands I didn't know that saying I was gonna report someone was against the rules, and I will never say it again... I don't see why I have to be punished when I did all I thought within my power to AVOID BEING PUNISHED...

I literally said nothing negative to them at all -- I just need someone to sympathise with me and read into the situation, yeah my track record looks bad... but consider I was never toxic for the two years I've owned this account, I literally never been chat banned on this account, each chat ban/temp-ban only had 1 game on the behavior card, I was ONLY judged on the games I presented to you, no other games. I'm not pulling chains here, I'm only reaching out to the community in the hopes that someone really reads the chat logs and understands I didn't know that saying I was gonna report someone was against the rules, and I will never say it again... I don't see why I have to be punished when I did all I thought within my power to AVOID BEING PUNISHED...

But I am responsible for my play as well and this is a team game. We have to at least try to get along with that team to win. Sometimes that is impossible. Don't let these losses bother you. Just move on.

I was prepared for the loss, thats why I was so passive, I wasn't aggressive or angry or mean to any of them, I even asked nicely for him to act like a support and stop griefing me... When I exhausted those avenues I said I would report and I was gonna mute them. I tried my best to co-exist, I tried my best to let them correct their ways, and even more-over, I tried my best to NOT GET IN TROUBLE. I wasn't mad at all... not at all the entire game, you can tell by my chat log, I just said what I said and muted and reported..

I get you come here with well intentions, but after my 25 game chat restriction, I honestly genuinely was trying not to be "toxic" anymore, I was trying to be an integral and beneficial part of the community, I was trying to be a good player and a good team mate, and in return for my efforts I've received an unjust automatic 14 day ban, anybody with a conscience and anybody with a heart would see I had good intention, the only thing that stands against me with the people who are frequenting this thread is that I was on a 25 game chat restriction prior, and thats all that people see.. they don't see the effort and the restraint I showed in the last one, they just see a "toxic kid" that should just be banned permanently.. as if I'm part of the problem.. when I was genuinely trying to be part of the solution...

We see the 25 game suspension BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT RIOT IS LOOKING AT. If you read that link I provided, you can see that a 25 game chat restriction is middle of the road. THEY SEE YOU AS A PROBLEM, fair or not.

So yeah, again, you are not being judged because of the 25 game restriction. We are just telling you what happened. A riot employee will probably tell you the same thing. Once you are on a 25 game chat restriction, you are on thin ice heading towards the 14 day ban. I can't tell you what Riot banned you for but they deemed it enough and that is all that counts.

And here is something else you missed. If they skipped you from a ten day straight to a 25 day chat restriction, that means you did something PRETTY TOXIC. And from these two chat logs, I am thinking there is one we don't see. Riot does not skip levels of punishment unless you did something bad enough to provoke them to escalate further. So if you did go straight to a 25 game, that looks bad as well.

We are just telling you what the rules are and how to avoid it in the future. Yes, Riot does want you to shut up, mute, report and move on. You are never "defending" yourself when you type flame back and just adding to a toxic environment. Just don't engage.

yes, as I mentioned at the start of my original post, there was a game that I deserved to be chat banned for, I was pretty toxic -- I had just got off of a string of ranked games that I lost in a row due to afks and int feeders. (its bronze, what can you do?) I was very aggressive and toxic towards them. I deserved the 10 game ban, The 25 game ban, I feel like I didn't deserve, and the 14-DAY ban I definitely didn't deserve...

I understand what you're saying, but I keep on responding in hopes that a riot employee will respond..

And just to clarify -- the last game (Yes, again pointing towards that chat log), I didn't engage them at all, they said stuff and I deflected... The most I did was plead to my SUPPORT to sell the longsword, buy a support item, and actually try and support me... Thats not unneccessary -- like everybody else, that support could have been having a bad day, its not wrong for me to extend some courtesy to her/him to maybe encourage her/him to take a step in the right direction, before I resort to muting and reporting.. I was extending courtesy, because sometimes I too get upset with some picks, like orianna support or tristana top... but, I don't ever show it because everybody is entitled to play the champions they want to play...

The whole of your two chat logs did. A lot of negativity and you TYPE TOO MUCH. Just mute and play. LESS TYPING, MORE PLAYING.

If you would have literally just shut up and muted, you would be fine. You don't need a specific rule. Your chats are negative and harassing. Threatening to report over and over again is enough for punishment. You did it two games and I have a feeling you have done it in many more games.

When you get back you will be on a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. Any thing Riot deems against the rules will get you PERMABANNED.

You want to avoid that? Stay out of the chat window except to type things you are doing FOR THE GAME but otherwise LESS TYPING, MORE PLAYING. Want to communicate? use pings.

This will save your account.

Yeah I recently had a chat ban after I told two of the enemy teammates they were MMR boosting. They verbally abused me all game and in a two minute period where I defended myself and claimed the pure fact of what was going on based off of match history. I was reported after the game by the enemy team and they bandwagoned against me. The "support" who was supposed to help believed that my years of positive behavior meant nothing and that the ban was justified because I defended myself.

League of Legends seems like It just wants every player to shut up regardless of the issue at hand, their support will offer you nothing to help and will see people verbally abusing you throughout the game and continue to make the judgement that a two minute period of 9-11 comments is enough for a chat ban. They don't care what you said, They don't care what you meant during your chat, and they don't care about the players. I have a recent forum post as well describing my issue which felt unjust such as yours.

Don't expect everyone to understand and expect negative comments to come through. My first comment on my post included someone simply re-writing my words without any context calling me bullshit without any justification. Know that some player's role is to hurt others even when you open up to the post. The rest of my comments seem very justifiable and I was able to have some good discussion regardless of the first asshole who commented.

Thank you, I'm willing to accept my quinn game as me being toxic, although I still have a spot reserved in the logical thinking portion of my brain, which says I wasn't toxic... but I'm willing to secede defeat there, but the 9 message chat log, and it being an automated ban.. it just feels so unfair..

I hope you the best with your dilema, and I really hope I get a fair riot employee to overlook my case and make a fair decision on my situation.

I urge you to check my forum post and simply go through the comments to see what other people said. If you go into "new" area of the forum posts you'll see what I went through. I dont understand why people feel the need to berate others for doing poorly. 99% of the time it makes your ally play worse which actually makes your flaming lower your teams chances of winning even mroeso than before the harassment. This is why people get banned for little negative comments and chat spamming. Riot and everyone else with common sense knows that when you start criticizing, youre actively lowering your teams chances of winning

Hello MIG89, It seems as though you only read the first chat log and not the second, I sent 9 messages over the course of 25+ minutes..

I didn't chat spam, I responded to things they were saying, things like "Thresh would have been a better adc", "You're feeding", "We told you in champ select yasuo adc isn't good", "etc" but that doesn't give them the right to throw the game without giving me the chance to prove my grit... when I was 1-0 they had already fed 4 kills each.

When nasus said I was useless, I simply mentioned that the thresh tried to STEAL MY ADC ROLE since champ select, and started with longsword at lvl 1 and stole alot of my cs (admittedly unsuccessfully -- I was yasuo, how can he out-cs me) but he/she was mad that I picked yasuo adc, and she/he tried to snipe my adc role by picking THRESH ADC??? and picking longsword out the gate, so my comment "My support was against me since champ select" is completely accurate and not menacing at all, its merely a fact, and in response to the nasus (thresh's premade partner) saying I was useless..

I'd like to update everyone who was part of this thread..

A riot member got back to me and removed the suspension, as it was "incorrectly escalated". That being said, I was also warned to just stay silent and mute and report at the end of the game, and that advice I will definitely take.
