FAR TOO EASY TO ABUSE THE REPORT SYSTEM

I encountered very unsportsmanlike players who ignored calls then bullied in-game. In defending myself** they say I'm getting reported and getting a chat restriction**. I just got out of a suspension and I'm trying to avoid problems but people like this instigate problems then report the victims. Pure cyber-bullying and the report system seems to rule in favor of it. It is true that I could have muted but the principle is more important than that. The fact that this can even take place with complete ignorance of context and circumstance only shows to me that there is no object of fairness.

Please help me. I need to be sure that they get penalized. If I get penalized over this I'll have to expose this broken system until my dying day.

EDIT: Excellent. So apparently the community doesn't want to actually penalize the unsportsmanlike players because it "won't stop them". So why even have the system in the first place if the community agrees that it doesn't help to the point where it's more reprehensible to try to deal with toxicity and cyber-bullying than it is to actually be a toxic cyber-bully? What's with the backwards logic of this community?

No name shaming man. People have bad days and sometimes other players play for the simple enjoyment of ruining your hard work. Does it suck? YES! Does coming on here and making a point to try to get these people banished make them stop, no it won't. What you do in those cases is just work around it, don't type anything about the trolling and move on to the next match. Take the loss as a lesson and report them at the end. Gl HF.

The issue clearly is the fact of bullying, period. Who's more reprehensible, the bully or the victim who takes action? If we ignore it and merely report after game, it's likely nothing will happen. It isn't simply that they were explicitly abusive as they were implicitly bullying and threatening guaranteed penalties. Most of it was in pre-game lobby, which the tribunal doesn't check. This is a total flaw which I am bringing to attention. It's the difference between old-school physical bullying and the modern-day psychological bullying. It's too easy here to be toxic, to instigate problems, then get off on the basis of "just mute".

And another thing, you can't mute pings. Which was the bulk of the harassment(in-game, not pre-game.)

You actually can if you hold tab at the end of a summoners icon you can see two types of things: 1. to stop ping alerts 2. to mute chat. So you can do that to stop ping abuse and in-game chat banter. Here is the thing you'll never change it and I hope you can use this - in moments like those know that it doesn't matter and dodging a game you have a bad feeling about can sometimes be a good thing. I don't like dodgers, but there is times when it is needed. If you let others get to you in a virtual world you're simply taking things too personal and need to realize they're baiting and they got you on the hook very easily. Just don't feed into it. If you're mentally hurt by the people online you need to seek help in real life by means of medical attention. Perhaps talking with someone about these things will help you release the pain you feel. Here we're just going to tell you to ignore it because that's the only remedy at the moment. If you want a system of pre-game reporting it will lead to people becoming banned or whatever the case is incorrectly and cause more harm than good to the community. Gl HF.

The only actual useful and fair comment. Maybe a little patronizing because I'm not hurt but I'm fed up with this system. It just reached an extreme point of frustration.

Also if all else fails, go and smurf for a bit and come back. Every once in a while it helps. Also remember there is a lot of people who've played for a while and their whole purpose, as mine was at one time, was to drive others mad and troll hard af. I regret it now because the account I have everything unlocked on is in low bronze while my smurfs are far higher ranked and its much more enjoyable to play ranked.

No, you didn't defend yourself.

You went after other players, contributing to the negative atmosphere in the game. You responding does absolutely nothing, and only plays right into what trolls want to happen.

You have complete control of your actions, meaning anything you do that breaks the rules is your fault, and no one else's. As you said, you should have just muted them, and then just report after the game.

And name posting is against the board rules.

Don't start crying "victim" afterward. If you willingly partake in the toxicity of that game, it is ON you. No context, no circumstances when you know full well a mute would had stopped all that. Man up and take some responsibilities for your actions instead of crying victim.

How does this justify the fact of the instigators in the first place? It's really sad that the community seems to think this way.

BOTH the instigators AND you deserve punishment. This is not a who's more right and who's more wrong question. If you both contribute to the toxicity of that game, you BOTH deserve punishment regardless of who's is MORE wrong.

There is no one on this board that will say the instigator(s) should not be punished. I dare say EVERY SINGLE person on this board will agree with you that the instigator(s) should be punished. However, whether the fact that instigator(s) is punished or not does not absolve you of your own toxicity.

So self-defense is regarded as toxicity? What if in real life someone defends themselves against an intruder and kills in self-defense and the jury all said, "He shouldn't have done what he did, but you could've spared his life and left the house. YOU played into the interaction." It's a horrible logic that literally would work no where else. Only in the twisted, backward community that is League of Legends.

You could apply it in less extreme ways. Muting doesn't stop harassment.

It stops verbal harassment.

Think of it more as a shouting match. Does shouting louder and adding insults make the other person back down? No, they feel they have to match.

Like I've been saying, the bulk of it wasn't necessarily verbal. When I "defended myself" it was just calling attention to the fact I'm being harassed and that it's pathetic and they shouldn't be proud of it.

It absolutely stopped the flame/harassment. You can no longer see what the other person's say or ping. You can also safely "attack" back at the person by report him after game without getting punished yourself. Yet you chose to dangerously engaged with the person in toxicity.

In a fight-or-flight situation, if you choose to fight while you completely had the option to flight, you must understand and accept the consequences of choosing to fight. You are no longer the "victim" if you choose to fight if you have the option to flight.

I didn't even necessarily fight as much as we argued as to who was getting the penalty. My chief frustration is that the pre-game chat isn't taken into account in the tribunal. I think that's broken. I've been penalized before and it only includes the chat, not the actual events in the game itself. I've participated in the tribunal a long time ago and all we see is the in-game chat. The people who call out toxicity shouldn't be afraid of getting penalized themselves. That's totally twisted. Not only does ban-baiter deserve a penalty from Riot, but the abuse unto themselves which they instigate.

Once again, this entire board supports punishing these so-called ban-baiter. This point has never and will never be contested.

The reason only your chat is included is because we are discussing YOUR penalty, not the ban-baiter (to which everyone agree should be punished).

Trolls exist everywhere, bait banning has always been a thing and always will be. You are not special, you are not original, you are in the long term just like everyone else- nothing and noone of consequences. There's also the fact that what happened here is not what you do, this guy got flamed and flamed back, you black mail people. Your bans get rectified if they ask Riot, this one won't.

Sad and pathetic. Really only proving the point of this inconsistent value system of the community that can't even uphold it's own values. Wherein victims get abused further when trying to reach out. You're clearly part of the problem.

Don't worry about cream. They are just claiming credit for others' misdeeds. The operation is fake and all of their so called 'screenshots' are actually just doctored photos. Even their videos are fake, you can hear the people who are talking pause when they forget what to say and have to look at their script.

No, they won't. It wasn't explicit as such. Most of it was pinging and signaling. The biggest issue was ignoring calls and the pre-game lobby chat while stealing jg farm and pinging over me.

Report for griefing/flaming, specify to check pre/post game chat. Describe what they did. That's all you need to do. Your response got you a justified punishment, whether you see it that way or not it's true.

If the answer to trolls and bullies is just to mute and ignore, why even have a system in the first place? The hypocrisy in purporting to do something about it but actually penalizing the victims who choose to stand up to it is staggering. Instigators are the only ones who should be punished, not only by Riot but by those they attempt to abuse. I only ask that a system is developed that analyzes interactions more acutely, perhaps by viewing the game itself as well as viewing chat logs.

That's all I'm bringing attention to.

You just got to recognize gas lighting. Litteral same shit you are talking about in your post happened to me. It was funny when the first quote on the chat log for me was "I don't think jazz and league mix well." Matter of fact my log only contains two profane words.
